“Havana” is a 2023 Korean film, categorized as a Legal / Courtroom drama, Crime and Murder Mystery; streaming free on Tubi TV. SUMMARY: A young lawyer was assigned as a public defender. After he reviewed the documents and evidence pertaining to the case, he asked the defendant to tell him the whole true story. She said she had already confessed and there was nothing left to say. The lawyer refused to accept that. He said he believed she was innocent and intended to prove it. ♦ If You Are Innocent I Will Prove It In “Havana”, Jeong Min is a rookie attorney who is sent to a small town to defend a woman who has been accused of brutally murdering her husband. It was brutal alright. First, she drugged him with propofol, which is a controlled substance, legally used for medical purposes, such as anesthesia and sedation, but its misuse is illegal. After he was out cold he poured industrial adhesive up his nose and throat. WHAT?? How did she even think to do that? Although the record shows that her husband had violently abused her “habitually” for years. Maybe she had a lot of time to plan the “perfect […]

The premise had promise, but I felt like it took too long to get to the point. The pacing was really slow, especially in the first half, and I found myself losing interest. The whole “I believe you” angle felt kind of tired, and I didn’t think the chemistry between Jeong Min and Sung Yoon Ah was strong enough to carry the emotional weight of the movie. Maybe it’s just me, but I wanted a bit more tension and excitement in a murder mystery—this movie was too drawn-out for my taste. Plus, I was expecting more from the legal drama side, but it felt a bit too formulaic. I also didn’t understand the title at all until the very end, which just left me a bit confused. Not my favorite.

Watching Havana really made me think about justice and how far people will go to find the truth. I loved Jeong Min’s character; he was so earnest in wanting to defend Sung Yoon Ah, even when everyone else had given up on her. The movie did a great job of making you feel like you were right there with him in that courtroom, digging through all the details and uncovering hidden truths. I also liked how the film explored the psychological toll of being wrongfully accused, especially with the added complication of her confession. The tension was built beautifully, and I loved how everything unraveled in the end. Plus, I was totally invested in seeing if Jeong Min would succeed, which is always a sign of good storytelling!

Okay, I wasn’t sure what to expect with Havana, but I was pleasantly surprised! It’s one of those movies that really draws you in, especially if you’re into stories about fighting for justice. The way Jeong Min didn’t give up on Sung Yoon Ah, even when she felt hopeless, was so inspiring. I loved how he believed in her innocence and worked hard to dig up the truth. The legal drama side was interesting, but it was the characters that really kept me hooked. You could feel the tension between them, and by the end, I was fully invested in the outcome. Definitely a solid watch if you like courtroom dramas with emotional depth!

What I really appreciated about Havana was how it explored the psychological side of being accused of a crime you didn’t commit. Sung Yoon Ah’s struggle to believe in her own innocence after confessing was heartbreaking. It really made me think about how people can be manipulated into making false confessions, which added so much depth to the story. The emotional moments between Jeong Min and her were so touching, and I loved how the film didn’t just focus on the legal aspects but also the personal stakes.

I like legal and courtroom dramas – movies or series. But I admit this is not the best I've ever seen. I probably would not have noticed it if it weren't for the name “Havana”. I heard hearing Camila Cabello singing and it lured me in like siren. LOL.
