Many share the fantasy of eternal youth or revisiting youth once it's gone. Currently, technology hasn't fulfilled this wish, and the magical McGuffin from movies remains fictional. Kadokawa Animation has unveiled the trailer for 'Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again,' a manga series by Kagiri Araido that began serialization in 2019.

The animated adaptation is set to release in Japan in April 2024. The story follows an elderly couple working in an apple orchard who undergo a magical rejuvenation, returning to their 20s while retaining silver hair. There is no explanation why they become young again but they did try to explore some possibilities with their second time youth. If you enjoy films like 'Seventeen Again' and 'Miss Granny,' this animated series might be to your liking. It is an adaptation of a manga of the same title which sells over 1 million copies.

Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again official trailers

While this show primarily falls into the genre of a relaxing slice-of-life anime, it delves into themes that can be considered dark. The characters, having regained their youth, grapple with new anxieties. Questions arise about the permanence of their rejuvenation – will this newfound youth last forever, or will they wake up old again? Another concern is the possibility of outliving their own children or grandchildren. Insecurity creeps in as well, contemplating the potential seduction of their spouse by someone younger, understandable given our inclination to form long-term relationships to avoid dying alone. Beyond these complexities, the series explores the couple's newfound popularity among fellow elderly individuals. Opportunities arise for them to pursue dreams previously unattainable in their younger years.

Usually in Many movies and Tv series about elderly people becomes young again they try to have a makeover but these two will remain wearing their elderly clothing,Having lived through almost everything, they now have the chance to revisit and fulfill the dreams that eluded them earlier in life.

The show seems to delve into the profound aspects of life, tackling the fear of outliving loved ones and the insecurities of aging. It's a reminder that youth isn't just about appearances but involves a complex web of emotions and experiences. Looking forward to the philosophical undertones of 'Grandpa and Grandma Turn Young Again.'

Mamiko Noto and Shinichiro Miki as Grandma and Grandpa? Count me in! Their chemistry in bringing these characters to life will undoubtedly elevate the viewing experience. It's impressive how the cast members are reprising their roles from earlier adaptations, a testament to the resonance of the source material.

Kagiri Araido's manga has been making waves on pixiv, gaining over 100 million views and ranking high in the 'Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taishō.' The success of the manga, both in terms of views and sales, suggests a strong foundation for the anime adaptation. Can't wait to see how the animated version brings the story to life! I never thought this will be adapted since its from 2019

The concept of an elderly couple going on a honeymoon in their rejuvenated state is just too adorable! Shozo and Ine's love story evolving against the backdrop of a magical transformation has all the makings of a heartwarming romance. Here's hoping for a series that tugs at the heartstrings.
