The funny thing is, even at the height of Godzilla's super heroic campy-ness, dude was never friendly to humans. At best he just kind of ignored us or didn't kill us.
This is ignoring the cartoon(s) of course, not because I dislike them (Quite the contrary) but because no one thinks of them when they talk about Godzilla being kid friendly.
Hell the ultimate proof of this? Godzilla's Revenge, which was the campiest, silliest, just most child movie of the entire franchise, where a kid imagines he's having adventures with Minya, Godzilla's son, who can talk and change sizes and stuff.
...even there Godzilla was going to kill the little brat, til he woke up.
I don't think there's been a movie where Godzilla is actively NICE to people, honestly.
Nothing like Gamera, who tends to take the whole 'protector' thing way more seriously.
