The first movie is pretty much a Horror movie, with people trying to survive a unstoppable force. It became the camp that people better know later on in the Showa series.
So this is gonna be more like "Trying to survive a horribly destructive natural disaster, that being a giant Nuclear Dinosaur" and less like "Godzilla with save us in Kid friendly fashion!"

The funny thing is, even at the height of Godzilla's super heroic campy-ness, dude was never friendly to humans. At best he just kind of ignored us or didn't kill us.
This is ignoring the cartoon(s) of course, not because I dislike them (Quite the contrary) but because no one thinks of them when they talk about Godzilla being kid friendly.
Hell the ultimate proof of this? Godzilla's Revenge, which was the campiest, silliest, just most child movie of the entire franchise, where a kid imagines he's having adventures with Minya, Godzilla's son, who can talk and change sizes and stuff.
...even there Godzilla was going to kill the little brat, til he woke up.
I don't think there's been a movie where Godzilla is actively NICE to people, honestly.
Nothing like Gamera, who tends to take the whole 'protector' thing way more seriously.

Glad that we're gonna have Spiderman 2 and Godzilla in the same year. I still want an Ultraman film with Will Smith.

Godzilla vs the sea monster A.K.A Ebirah horror of the deep, he protects the native girl, although it's mainly because the role was written for King Kong.
Also Godzilla vs Biollante, Godzilla was nice to Miki....by not killing her.:sweat:

I'll believe this movie exists when it hits theaters. They have been claiming they were going to do a Godzilla movie for 3 years now.

Yeah that happened to me, my hallucination told me that Power Rangers originated from Japan... every now and then, the hallucination tells me this...
and it also tells me that there is a large fanbase of grown men that likes magical girls and ponies

Godzilla wasn't nice to people in Hedorah. He had nothing to do with people, really.
He just wanted to murder the **** out of a monster.
Megalon he also wasn't nice to PEOPLE- he was nice to Jet Jaguar.
Because Jet Jaguar is a saint and should always be thanked and loved.
The people he gave the finger to and ignored.
