FUNi sue's 1337 Anime downloaders over One Peace Ep. #481

I'm pretty sure there are plenty of people who watch the show on live television in Japan who don't like commercials either, and they have to watch more than are shown during livestreams on Funi's website. Funimation is bending over BACKWARDS to give people an option to watch the show without paying money. Although the video quality may not be as good as the HD broadcast, American viewers using Funi's site have the option to watch whatever episode they want, WHENEVER THEY WANT, for nothing. I don't think they even have that option in Japan.

I really have yet to hear any decent excuse from anyone pirating One Piece in the US. If you live in another country and don't have access to Funi's site, sure, you may have some credibility, but Funi is ONLY suing US based IP addresses. What reason do you have to steal something they are giving you for free anyway? That's like breaking into a bakery after hours to steal something from the free sample basket because you don't like being greeted by the cashier.

They have no reason and no excuse. Anything they give for either would be bullshit.

That's why I don't like funi that much anymore. They're nuts, let me tell you that. :sly:

After the debacle with Fractale getting pulled by the rights owners, they may not have a choice anymore.

Funimation streams the show pretty much on Japanese air date, with subs. Just watch the commercials and be done with it.

On Bigdog's point, Funimation has every episode up on Saturdays subbed. The first fansub hit on Jan 23rd this week, which was a Sunday. So the official release is ahead of the subs. For free.

On some stuff I can understand, but Funimation is doing everything right with One Piece and people are still kicking them.

I think it's the "cool thing" to bitch and complain about Funi.

We have reported last month that Funimation, a North American anime distributor, files copyright infringement complaints against 1,337 anonymous users of BitTorrent file sharing protocols over a subbed One Piece anime episode. And last February 10, the judge told Funimation to "sever" or remove all defendants except one in the lawsuit.
