In 1997 the video game studio Whoopee Camp released Tomba, a unique 2.5D adventure where you played as a pink-haired island man on a mission to rid his stomping grounds of evil invading pigs. Though the game was never a smash hit, it had a cult following strong enough to make a sequel possible. And while plenty of other games from the PS1 era have been re-released and prettied up, Tomba has had to sit by the wayside, and so have its fans. No more! Tomba is back! Not only that, you can hold him in your hands! Whoopee Camp ha partnered with Limited Run to produce multiple physical editions of Tomba, which become open for pre-order one week from now. The standard edition, for Switch and PS5, comes with what you see above plus a full-color manual. There’s also a “physical” PC edition offered that ships the game on a Tomba-themed USB stick. But if you want more than that…. …there’s the Classic Edition, which adds in a double-sided

Huge fan of Tomba since I first played it back in the late '90s. The fact that Whoopee Camp and Limited Run are giving it such a grand re-release is a dream come true. The Classic Edition and Whoopee Edition sound like they come with so many cool extras. I’m particularly excited about the deluxe hardcover art book and strategy guide. This re-release is definitely going to be a must-have for any longtime fan like me. I can’t wait to pre-order and relive the nostalgia!

This is pretty neat! I remember hearing about Tomba, though I never got the chance to play it. It’s cool that they’re bringing it back, especially with all those physical editions. I’m not sure I’d go for the super expensive packages, but the standard edition for Switch or PS5 sounds perfect for me. I love the idea of having a physical copy with a full-color manual.

As a collector, this announcement is pure gold. Limited Run always does a fantastic job with their physical releases, and Tomba seems no different. The multiple editions with various collectibles are a great touch. I’m definitely eyeing the Classic Edition, mainly for the SteelBook and the soundtrack album. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into making this a special release, and it’s exciting to see a game like Tomba get the recognition it deserves. My collection will certainly benefit from this addition!

I’m glad Tomba is making a comeback, but I’m more interested in the digital release. Physical editions are nice, but I prefer the convenience of digital downloads. $19.99 for the game on PS5, Switch, or PC is a pretty reasonable price. It’s great to see they’re not just catering to collectors but also making the game accessible for those of us who just want to play without all the extra stuff. Looking forward to August 1st to dive into this classic!

Tomba holds a special place in my heart, and this news just made my day. Seeing all the love and effort put into these physical editions is heartwarming. The Whoopee Edition, with all the figures, art prints, and deluxe book, is something I would have dreamed of owning as a kid. It’s a bit pricey, but for the memories and joy it brings back, it might just be worth it. Kudos to Whoopee Camp and Limited Run for making this happen.

It’s cool to see Tomba getting a re-release, but those physical editions are way out of my budget. I’d love to have some of the collectible items, but I just can’t justify the cost. The digital edition for $19.99 is more my speed, and I’m happy they made that available. At least I’ll still get to experience the game without breaking the bank. Maybe someday I’ll stumble upon the collectibles secondhand.

Man, this brings back memories! Tomba was such a unique game for its time, and it’s awesome to see it getting a new lease on life.

Tomba has always held a special place in my heart. It wasn’t just a game for me—it was an escape into a whimsical world filled with adventure and wonder. I vividly remember the first time I played it, navigating through its beautifully designed levels and battling those mischievous pigs. The game’s quirky humor and vibrant aesthetics were unlike anything else at the time. Hearing about this physical re-release, especially with the incredible care and attention to detail from Whoopee Camp and Limited Run, fills me with so much joy. The Classic Edition, with its double-sided poster and SteelBook, is a perfect tribute to the original game. And the Whoopee Edition? It’s a collector’s dream come true with the figures, art prints, and deluxe book. This re-release is not just about nostalgia; it’s about celebrating a game that brought so much happiness to so many people. I’m over the moon and can’t wait to hold Tomba in my hands once again.

’ve always been a fan of retro games, and Tomba stands out as one of the most memorable titles from the PS1 era. Its mix of 2.5D platforming and adventure elements was groundbreaking at the time, and its whimsical world was a joy to explore.
