Sooooo I’ve been diving into some old-school Final Fantasy (yeah, I know, I'm a bit late), and I started playing Final Fantasy V. Honestly, I’m low-key obsessed.
Like, how is this game still so good? I wasn’t expecting to be so hooked, but the Job System is a straight-up masterpiece.
I’m all about customization, and FFV’s Job System is just chef’s kiss. It’s not as in-your-face as some of the newer games, but it’s like... timeless. The ability to switch up jobs for characters like Bartz, Lenna, Galuf, and Faris just opens up so many options. It feels like you’re creating your own squad of warriors, each with their own flair.
I’ve been messing around with a lot of weird combos, but I gotta say, combining the Bard’s Sing ability with the Dancer’s Dance has been low-key OP. Like, the buffs and debuffs are insane. Also, shout-out to Galuf for being a total beast as a Ninja. Zantetsuken never gets old, and watching enemies get sliced in half feels so satisfying.
I lowkey think FFV’s Job System is the best in the series, though. It’s so flexible, and it feels like there are so many different ways to approach fights, unlike some of the more rigid systems later on. Plus, there’s something about the character growth with each job that feels earned.
Anyone else have any favorite combos or OP setups? What do y’all think, does the Job System still hold up in 2025? Or is there something about it that feels a little too "vintage"?
