Emerald City Comicon 2014....Judgement Time

Judge Faiz

I am the law
My favorite time of year is almost upon us my friends!
At the end of the month, thousands of people will descend on Seattle for the annual comicon.

As always, I'll be there again in costume. Although this year I won't be in my Ghostbusters gear, that I've worn for the past 4 years. I'm also not bringing my Stargate gear out of retirement (even though Richard Dean Anderson will be attending). This year, as you can probably guess, I'll be debuting my Judge costume from the 2012 movie Dredd. I'll be wearing it Sat. & Sun. and who knows, maybe part of Friday as well. So if you happen to be attending the con & see me, stop and say hello!

This year is extra exciting because Judge Joesph Dredd himself will be there! That's right, Karl Urban will be at the con! And Saturday night, he'll even be doing a Q&A at a screening of Dredd at a theater in Seattle (which I am totally going to....and will have to walk a 1/2 mile through the streets of Seattle after the con to get to the theater. Perps be ware...it's Judgement Time).

This year, while fun, should be expensive as all hell. But if you're in the area and going, give a shout out here!
Or once the con has happened, if you got some cool stuff, post some pictures here. I'd love to see it!

That's it for now.
Stay on the right side of the law citizens.

So today was Day 1. And DAMN I've never seen it so busy on a Friday!! My con is slowly turning into a megacon like PAX!! And as an old man...no sir, I do not like it!! *shaking fist in the air*

First half of the day was spent in lines getting artist autographs & picking up merch for friends.
Second half of the day I donned my Judge uniform and headed off to the 2000AD booth and met the crew there again (I had met them earlier in the day during my artist signing quest), then walked around the con until it was time for their panel.
Attended the panel in full gear and was used as an example of how the uniforms were designed for a more "real world" application by JOCK, the concept artist on Dredd.

After the panel, I walked around the con some more and got my pic taken quite a bit.

Tomorrow's agenda consists of meeting Stephen Amell and Karl Urban & getting my picture with Karl. Con goodness, and then a special screening of Dredd w/ a Q&A by Karl in the evening.

Tomorrow is going to be a loooooooong day & very hot in my gear. I may die.

Pictures to come after Sunday.

And another ECCC is in the books. Each year it gets bigger and bigger, which makes it harder and harder to see, meet, and do all the things you want to do.

Never got to meet or see Stephen Amell because Saturday was spent trying to get Karl Urban's autograph...which I finally did. In addition to meeting Karl Urban (whom called me his friend multiple times when I met him...so we're TOTALLY friends now!!) I pre-bought a ticket for his photo op on Sunday, attended his panel (which was very entertaining), then had to haul ass & walk four blocks in the rain to the theater that was hosting a Q&A with Karl Urban, as well as Arthur Wyatt (writer of the comic sequel Dredd: Underbelly), & Jock (concept artist for Dredd) before showing Dredd 3D.

The night was phenomenal, and as a side note the coolest temperature wise I had been all weekend in my judge gear. The cold wind and rain felt SOOOOOOOO good! lol
For anyone who's heard Karl Urban say that the costume was torturous and painful, I can completely confirm. It's hot and uncomfortable, but fortunately you can use that discomfort to stay in character while cosplaying.

Sunday I had 3 goals. Get to the photo op with Urban, take a picture with the TARDIS (the first time a TARDIS has actually been at ECCC), and get a picture at the 501st booth. Mission accomplished with all three.

The best thing about the weekend was that my judge uniform was approved by 2000AD, Jock, AND Judge Dredd himself Karl Urban!! Arthur Wyatt even had me sign his ECCC exclusive Dredd print of Jock's because I was "part of the Dredd family."
I left the con Sunday afternoon exhausted, but SUPER happy!

And now pics, in no real order.
