So what were your disappointments of E3? Mine were:
1. The genres - We saw a lot of great games, but except for a few exceptions, it was all stuff we have been playing for the last several years. I am sick to death of FPS as it seemed like there were 20 for every one action adventure platformer, and it seems like nothing is changing. In fact, everyone had some type of racing game revealed, and I am tired of seeing those flood the market as well. Where are all of the action adventure platformers? This is one of the reasons the indie games Sony had at their press conference stood out to me, as they looked to be something different. Also, The Evil Within was a highlight of E3 to me because it looks like a straight up horror game with some action elements instead of a Michael Baby orgasm with a few horror moments.
2. Sequels - I am tired of playing the same game series over. The point of next gen is to get new IPs, but we are still plagued with sequels. Halo 5, Killzone Shadow Fall, Infamous SS, Forza 5, Assassin's Creed IV, Just Dance 2014, Battlefield 4, Kids of Duty, Batman Arkham Origins, Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy XV, etc, way too many sequels still coming out on next gen consoles. Sure, some of them like Metal Gear Solid V are going to be good, but I am tired of seeing the same series over. All that was missing was a new God of War and Gears of War, which thank the gods did not happen. That is why I am looking forward to Watch_Dogs, The Evil Within, and The Order. And another reason why the indie games stood out to me. I hope in 2015 we see 10 new IPs for every sequel.
3. Nintendo - Don't get me wrong, they showed some awesome games, and I said I would get a Wii U when a Donkey Kong Country game came out for it, but they are relying on nothing more than nostalgia to sell their system. Where are third party games that are going to actually utilize the gamepad with platformers and stuff?
4. Microsoft - I really wanted to like the One. No matter how much a complain about MS and their 360, I really wanted a reason to own the next XBox. However, I just refuse to support a system that is going to force me to change my gaming habits to suit their greed. I understand they are trying to fight piracy, but the only people affected by anti-piracy techniques are those who do everything legitimately. I can afford to only buy new games, but I want the option to buy used if I desire it. I want to feel like I actually own the game, and I want to do with the game as I wish. If publishers are so worried about people buying a game used, selling their game, then they need to stop making *If they stop making ****** games, we will stop complaining and stop only wanting to buy games at a cheap price. The other part comes with MS' general attitude towards the public whether it be comments like "buy a 360 if you don't have internet" and trying to avoid the situation as if it is just a fleeting fad.
5. Sony - They still haven't giving me a reason to buy a Vita. I own two games for the Vita, Persona 4 and Uncharted, and yet, they have done nothing to make me feel like I must own one. I want to get one, but I want to feel like it is something I must have, not something I am going to get just because I like to own every gaming device. They had the perfect opportunity to do so, by doing a PS4 bundled with the Vita for $500, and they chose not to, which signals to me that they are not sure what to do about the device.
WIth that said, the games I am looking forward to the most are:
The Evil Within
Murdered
Metal Gear Solid V
Secret Ponchos
Transistor
Oddworld HD
Outlast
Watch_Dogs
The Order
