A PSP is very worth it if you hack it, not only can you play just about any NES, SNES, Genesis, Game Gear, Atari, etc game on it, you can also use Sony's own PSX emulator to play almost any PSX game you want at full speed. There are also N64 and Saturn emulators in the works. Make sure you get a fat PSP, though, since the emulation doesn't seem to be all there on the slim models.

Back on topic, damn me and my friends had some pretty damn good PSP homebrews, I was running on a 4gig HD for my PSP with 2.6 (which was the newest at the time) using the GTA trick to play some PSX, SNES, and Genesis games as well as a Mac OSX and Windows XP OS and even MS Paint. My friend ran on the 1.0 having everything tricked out, mainly used it for StepMania. I think my friend sold his PSP or something, my 4gig HD is busted currently.
