I liked the episode, i am not familiar with the classic episodes it references so that aspect was lost on me, but i dig what they were trying to do.

The use of the setting was pretty good and i loved the way the Doctor was portrayed this time (i also love the outfit). The mistery around Clara was built around nicely and overall i can say that this is a good DW episode.

And that is probably my only complain, it was a good DW episode but it wasn´t a christmas episode, i think the christmas aspect from the 2 previous specials was a lot better, in here it seemes like an after thought, which in turn makes the final defeat of the intelligence not all that special. I don´t mind the "it was beaten by love" aspect but i think it could have done a lot better given the christmas setting.

See, and that's what I liked about it. The Christmas Invasion, The Runaway Bride, The Voyage of the Damned, and The Next Doctor, all of them just happened to be taking place at Christmas. Christmas wasn't a huge part of the story. It fits with the rest of the story, whereas specials like A Christmas Carol and The Doctor, The Widow, and the Wardrobe are so tied to Christmas that it feels wrong watching them any other time of year (okay, they feel wrong watching anyway, because I hated them, but that's besides the point).

Yes but that´s the thing, the Christmas specials from the Davies era were DW stories that just happened during christmas while so far the specials from the Moffat era have been actual christmas stories that relied on the christmas setting.

This special felt more like a regular DW story that just took place during chrstmas, but the ending and ultimate defeat of the main villain relied in the christmas setting, which quite honestly bothered me a little, adding the "family crying during christmas" bit felt forced and i think they could have worked something better instead of that.

Good points. I know people didn't like the Christmas Carol one because it kinda broke continuity by having The Doctor able to pin-point pilot the Tardis when the Tardis wasn't suppose to be *that* accurate in being able to be piloted.

That's silly. The Doctor has done plenty of pinpoint piloting jobs. Short-hops, time-only, space-only. The TARDIS is finicky most of the time but the Doc has done it plenty of times before.

uhg... thanks! why must they make us wait for so long!
Well Easter is when the revived series usually started until they shifted this one to November. Which does mean the 50th anniversary year will only have half a series in it (I'm guessing so they have time to do all the promo stuff for the special or something). The anniversary show being in November is because the classic series started in Novmber '63. Whether it will get broadcasted on the actual date, the closest Saturday, or what, I haven't heard. Then after that it's on to the next Christmas special.
