"The Assassin(s)" attracted over 400,000 admissions over the weekend but fell to No. 2 in the box office rankings. Despite its historical controversies, it reached a total of nearly 3 million admissions since its release. The film, which blends real events from the 1974 assassination attempt on President Park Chung-hee with fiction, has faced backlash for its inaccuracies.

The Japanese animation "Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island" topped the chart with a narrow lead, drawing 407,895 admissions.

It's fascinating to see how historical films can generate such debate, especially when they weave in fiction.

I'm kinda baffled that "The Assassin(s)" was still able to draw in nearly 3 million admissions, considering all the controversy around its historical inaccuracies! I mean, when films take such liberties with real events, it can definitely skew people's perceptions of history. The backlash makes sense. I get that they want to create a compelling narrative, but is it really worth stepping on facts? Also, was anyone else thrown off by some of the character portrayals? It felt like they were kinda over-exaggerated. What do you think about how they handled the actual events versus the dramatization?
