detailing gundam models

so I've purchased a few 1/144 HG gundam seed destiny models, and I'm hoping to add a bit of detail to it in order to make it look better.

does anyone know what are the best tools for the job, better yet, anyone know a website that provides tutorials for this time-consuming task?

Hobby knives, Special paints made for rubber/plastic, and some imagination.

I used sanding paper, an Airgun, and a hobby knife and one of my mom's extra dental scrapers. OH! Gundam Markers. They help a ton. They dont come in the models but you can get them online. They fill in the lines on the pieces to make them look like parts. Good luck!

uh i would do it before. If its a snap together model its a bitch to get the pieces off to detail.

The only thing you really need is a black Gundam Marker. It will go the longest way to making your model appear to have a bit of depth.

Other things you might want are flat edge cutters or some plastic spray-paint (for the parts that are blatantly the wrong color).

would a black sharpie do for the detailing?

Fine tip, yes. If it's not fine tip you could possibly use a very sharp knife to make the tip of it thinner.
