Del Toro says "no godd*mn AI" for Pan's Labyrinth re-release

Guillermo Del Toro is bringing Pan's Labyrinth back to theaters for its 20th anniversary, and he made it clear that he won't be using any AI in the restoration. During the Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, he emphasized, "absolutely no goddamn AI" will be involved in the 3D re-release. This is set to hit theaters on October 9.

I love that he's sticking to traditional methods. It's refreshing to see someone so passionate about preserving the original magic of a film.

It's fantastic to hear that Guillermo Del Toro is so committed to preserving the original charm of Pan's Labyrinth. That film is such a beautifully crafted piece of art, and its practical effects and intricate set designs are a huge part of what makes it so special. The hand-painted look of the world adds an entirely different layer than anything AI could replicate.

I love how Del Toro understands that the emotional weight of a film often comes from those tangible elements. It really shows his respect for the medium. Did you have a favorite scene or creature from the film that stood out to you? The Pale Man still gives me chills!
