The Dark X-Men plot however probably has less to do more to do with older X-Men history and more to do with the recent stuff such as Cyclop's secret kill squad and San Francisco being a mutant haven in contrast to the Sisterhood story.I'd feel a little more secure about the story if Matt Fraction had a better grasp on X-Men history. There are some holes in the current Sisterhood arc with Revanche and he's completely wasting the historical dynamics between Wolverine and Deathstrike, to say nothing of Psylocke and Spiral.

The problem is Namor is that he is viewed as unstable and untrustworthy. He flooded NYC with a giant tidal wave during WW2 while at the same time was fighting with Captain America and the Torch. Him joining with Osborn and the Dark X-Men would be viewed suspiciously much like Muammar Gaddafi's alleged "reformation".Plus, you have to take into account that Osborn's pulling a hell of a snow job on the general public and they might see Namor's presence with the group as his way of improving his overall image.
