Oh man, I’m really excited about Absolute Batman #20! The prospect of Absolute Robin joining the mix sounds like it could be a game changer. Dick Grayson has such a rich history, and seeing him get the spotlight in this way is pretty awesome. I can’t wait to see how they weave his story into the Batman universe. Is it February yet? Let's go!
I actually like that the cover is not giving clear answers. For me, part of the fun is trying to guess what is going on before release. The mention of “Robins” is what caught my attention the most. I think they are trying to do something different from the usual single Robin story. Maybe it is a group or maybe different versions of the same character. Also, this version of Batman not being rich makes the idea of multiple Robins more interesting, because it means he cannot just support them easily. He would have to struggle with them. That sounds more grounded to me. I am not fully sold yet, but I am curious enough to check it out when it releases.
I am a bit confused by the direction. I understand the idea of removing the “cheat codes,” but sometimes it feels like they remove too much. Batman without resources is already a big change. Now if there are multiple Robins, I wonder how they will explain that in a believable way. Who trains them? Who supports them? I need a clear reason, not just a cool idea. The cover does not help me understand anything, so I feel more unsure than excited right now.
I like simple stories, so I am not sure about multiple Robins. One Robin is already enough if the writing is good. Sometimes adding more characters makes things messy. But I will not judge too early. Maybe they have a clear plan. The idea of Batman struggling without money is already interesting, so I hope they focus on that instead of adding too many new elements at once.
