Is now an appropriate time to produce a limited series about humanity struggling to rebuild society after the effects of a deadly disease? Hey, what could be the problem? HBO Max has announced Station Eleven, a miniseries based on the novel by Emily St. John Mandel. The best part so far? Tank Girl is involved!
We don’t see Lori Petty very often (she last appeared in Orange Is The New Black, if these notes are correct), but in Station Eleven she’ll be playing “The Conductor,” leader of a group of traveling Shakespeare performers. Attendance has been low lately, ever since a deadly flu decimated humanity’s population and cratered civilization. And if that wasn’t enough on her plate, she’ll eventually run into a mysterious cult of young people led by Daniel Zovatto (“Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” “Don’t Breathe”) as “The Prophet.”
