China Ban's English

Yeah it's does involves the accents and dialects. China got two main language Cantonese and Mandarin but they got over 20+ indigenous languages if they want to preserve them as well.

Dunno if you have heard about an app for Iphone or Ipod Touch with camera can translate any words on the signs or menu by photoshop the image and replaced the words in the country's language with English words. It's a stone throw away from have your own universal translator/babelfish.

That's the thing, they don't want to preserve the other languages. The Chinese government is trying to make it Mandarin only. They've already banned Cantonese from the media and schools. They keep saying that Mandarin is the real authentic Chinese language even though it's not even the language the Han Chinese used.

Aren't language barriers kinda used as a form of racism? I dunno but when there was these two Chinese people sitting beside me on the subway they were talking about how ugly everyone else was (including me and I could understand them). I didn't really get that angry but it makes me wonder if language barriers could contribute to racism Oo
