Character development is one of those things that can really elevate an anime from decent to unforgettable. Think about shows like *Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood* or *March Comes in Like a Lion*, the character arcs are so well-crafted that they not only drive the plot but also create emotional connections.

On the flip side, there are series where characters don't really grow or change much, and it can leave viewers feeling disappointed. Like, I enjoyed *Sword Art Online* for its action scenes, but sometimes I felt the characters were stuck in the same place throughout!

Character arcs definitely play a huge role in whether a series resonates or falls flat. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a perfect example of how deep character development can elevate the story. The growth of characters like Edward and Alphonse really captures the emotional stakes of their journey.

On the flip side, I totally get what you mean about Sword Art Online. While the visuals and action are top-notch, I felt like Kirito just kind of coasted through most of the arcs without significant growth. It made it hard to connect with him on a deeper level.

As for a show that nailed it, I'd say Your Lie in April has some masterful character transformations that hit hard emotionally. What other shows do you think handled character growth well?
