Porsche is part of the VW group. Hasbro has asked VW before if they can make Transformers based on their vehicles, and VW have told them that they don't want to be associated with "war toys" in any way (because, you know, lots of Nazi involvement early on in the German company's history that they want to put well behind them). It's the same reason that Bumblebee doesn't transform into a VW Beetle. General Motors, on the other hand, were quite happy to sell Hasbro the rights to make toys based on their car designs. In the first movie why jazz wasn't a porsche ?

Well the G1 Bumblebee was a distorted VW Beetle and Hasbro have since made a lot of his toys turn into cars that look like Beetles but are slightly different. IIRC in the first movie when Bumblebee is in the car lot they park him next to a Beetle as a reference.Yeah a VW Beetle would be strange but why they use a Audi in rotf and a Bugatti in aoe.

I haven't seen AOE so I don't know about the Bugatti, but the Audi in RotF was a Decepticon called Sideways, and while they used an Audi R8 for his vehicle mode in the film Hasbro officialdom have said that his toy isn't an Audi, just a made-up model that looks "approximately" like one, as they hadn't licensed the rights from Audi.

Bumblebee parks next to one when he's in the car lot at the start. It was a little nod to his past form. I don't think VW can control what cars appear in the background of films lol. But they were well known for a long time for refusing to license their car designs to be made into toys. Hasbro won't make any money from one of the most prominant robots in the movie franchise if he changed into something they can't make toys of, so Bumblebee didn't become a Bug. If Shynilyte's correct though maybe they've changed their minds. I must admit I've not been up to date on the latest news/rumours for Transformers recently.Didn't a VW Beetle appear in the movie? Or is becoming a transformer the only restriction?
