Announcing STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN

Thing is, is that Sakura, Blanka, Guy, Cody, Elena, Dudley, Lars, Alisa, Bryan Fury, Jack-X, Christie, & Lei Wulong are confirmed for DLC, which by the way, are already on the disc, as well as Mega Man & Pac-Man for the 360 version.

I like the fact Lars' alternate suit is Hatake Kakashi...further pissing off a lot of people.

PART of the information is on the disc. This is to save DL time and lower the DL size for the eventual, completed DLC content.

It ALSO make sure the disc has something to read so that people who don't buy the DLC can still have online matches with those who do. (Unlike the MK9 DLC which had... problems.)

I still find though its a copout on Capcoms part, and they deserve the heat they've gotten over this. If I'm going to buy a Pizza, I sure as hell don't want the delivery guy to say " Here's your pizza, but if you want the last few slices It'll cost you extra ".

I'll still buy the game regardless, but if Capcom continues to do this, I'm going to boycott their products, its demoralising.

That's not a very apt comparison though. A better one would be that you walk into a bar, buy a drink and then complain they don't automatically give you every bottle behind the bar.

The bottles are physically there and you paid for a drink so you should get all of them, right? (Answer: No.)

Also, like I said, the DLC is not complete on the disc anyway, so just having it available wouldn't work as it would be missing graphics, animation, sound, etc etc etc. Those missing assets are being worked on by a separate team that is only authorized to add those extra assets with the expectation of their payment coming from the DLC profits.

I forget who said it, but the best quote I've heard about the issue is: "I don't get mad about on-disc DLC because I know how the industry works."

Not at all, as the drink you get is the complete package you've asked for and have paid for.

If you've seen the videos that have popped up on Youtube recently, hackers have managed to unlock the DLC by just editing the code and creating a patch, that's pretty lousy on Capcoms part, its the same deal as the Mass Effect 3 debacle.

The quote you've mentioned is pretty damn sad by whoever's said it, that's practically admitting that the Industry is out to milk as much money as they can from you. No wonder I don't bother with recent games as much, I'll still keep my retro passion alive, back then when you bought a game it was complete.

But that's exactly my point. You don't buy a game for the unannounced DLC characters/features/costumes to be revealed later. You buy a game for the things advertized from the start and you get to play with what you paid for.

Anything else, especially if it requires a second team to take more time to work on it to get it running completely, is going to require something extra. Just like you need to pay for the vodka to chase down your rum instead of the bartender just giving the former to you because you paid for the latter.

I've seen those vids. They're buggy, missing animations, missing art resources, missing sound, cause slowdowns and glitches and look rather unplayable, really.

Why it's almost like they're somehow incomplete and need some more outside content downloaded.

It's meant more in the sense of there being limited time and resources to work on anything and if people want to put food on the tables of their families, sometimes they need to do stuff like this to get the product out the door in the time allotted to them.

What I paid for is the content thats on the disk, and what really bothers me is that the Vita version gets the characters from the start. It's a copout to PS3 and 360 owners.

Yet the Characters have been running fine online? Capcom's openly said that they're after the hackers, If it were to be a buggy mess then they wouldn't have bothered, here's a video's for reference

Seems like its running quite finely here, nothing major at all. I mean, if the Vita version has them playable from the get go, then I doubt they'd need any extra content for the home console versions.

It's meant more in the sense of there being limited time and resources to work on anything and if people want to put food on the tables of their families, sometimes they need to do stuff like this to get the product out the door in the time allotted to them.

Capcom's one of the lucky bunch who doesn't really need to worry about finances as their products sell quite well, and quite frankly, Street Fighter X Tekken could have been on the shelf more longer instead of dropping the release date a few weeks before It comes out. But who am I to complain, Capcom knows they've got a dedicated fanbase who's going to chuck money at them.

A) No, you paid for the game that was advertized. The DLC has nothing to do with the reason you bought it. It was never even on the table when the time came to do so. Saying "I paid for that content" when you clearly did not is wrong.

I don't mean to go off on you but this kind of argument tends to be used to justify the thievery of the product in question. It irritates the hell of me and is one of the major reasons those of us who play video games get painted with the "whiny and entitled" brush.

B) The Vita thing has several extra provisions to it that you're leaving out.

1. It's coming out several months later, when the development team working on those extra characters have time to finish them.

2. I will bet you that it's meant to be an enticement Vita owners to pick up the Vita version if they already own it for the PS3. That way, they can use the PS3-Vita connectivity to unlock those characters for "Free". (Given that handheld games are about $50 now, it'd probably come out to the same basic price.)

I saw those vids. Again, I can't help but notice most of the hacked characters only have one or two moves and are visibly missing frames of animation in their stances/attacks.

Capcom's openly said that they're after the hackers, If it were to be a buggy mess then they wouldn't have bothered

Or... they could be going after people for stealing something they didn't pay for and were dumb enough to post videos of their thievery online?

Capcom's one of the lucky bunch who doesn't really need to worry about finances as their products sell quite well.

Not always. And if something does bomb or even just not perform as well as expected, it's usually the teams working on the smaller ends of the product that feel the pinch first.

Yeah you've stumped me, I'm not the most hardcore fighter fan, I'm merely speaking from a somewhat casual perspective, I didn't notice the missing animations at all

Yeah from what you've posted you're right, it is indeed theivery, I think my hatred just stems from not wanting to fork out extra money for the complete package, though I may just wait until I finally get the PS Vita. What bothered me most was that one of my favourite character's from the Tekken series, Christie is apart of it.

I just hope that the Industry may learn from this debacle, and to maybe just bite the bullet and not make it as disk locked content, I haven't seen this much hatred towards Capcom in a while.
