Anime you were surprised you enjoyed?

Claymore. I usually dislike anime with heavy atmosphere, but this one makes me burst out of curiousity. I enjoy the manga too ^_____^

BERSERK.... I remember getting this for a friend on a whim, cuz it had a guy with a big sword and I knew he liked stuff with big swords.

I decided to just give it a peak to make sure it didn't totally suck and found myself on my knees in slack jawed awe at the action direction and the powerful story that unfolded before me. I think I ran back to my computer and ordered the rest of the episodes that day.

DEATH NOTE... I had absolutely NO clue what it was about, but I remember just constantly hearing stuff about it. Bored one day, I gave it a peak and sure 'nuff... my eyes went wide in horror at the brilliance that stood before me.

ONE PIECE..... dunno why I started watching it. I think because I kept seeing it compared against Naruto so much, which I liked very much at the time. And I remember, for a good 13+ episodes that it was only a pretty good anime... nothing special....... then Hawkeyes Mihawk arrived and my body was blasted with goosebumps and the fight with Don Krieg and the Grand Line.... it went from passible anime to one of my all time favo-- no, currently it stands atop my all time favorite anime.

Tenjho Tenge - I'd never heard of it, and it's a really enjoyable series.

Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan - I saw a clip of it on youtube, and it had to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever watched. I didn't like it, I thought it was stupid looking. Then a friend gives me the whole series... and I loved the hell out of it.

Gokusen, which was for me a combo of GTO style school drama with yakuza movies.

Lucky Star, I saw an episode of it, and it was...kinda boring at first, with random topics being brought up. Yet...I couldn't really bring myself to hate it.

Mahou shoujo lyrical nanoha trilogy- attracted by the theme song. Ended up following it to the end.

Oh don't even get me started. Cloverway's dub was ****. I love DiC's version with a passion. At least they gave a damn. Sure it had edits but it also had a good and original soundtrack, fresh and unique vocal songs to accompany the special scenes, and a fantastic voice cast. Cloverway's version was absolutely terrible. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

Hey, whatever makes you happy, I don't have a problem with that.
