ANIME CENTRAL THE 13TH - ROLL CALL!

Right, I'm not debating writing it out as W or Double. Just pointing out the letter W in Japanese is shorthand for the word Double and thus when you see 'W' is meant to be pronounced as 'Double' out loud; not pronounced like the English letter. When you say Double-U you sound/look like a 'tard. Like saying Khaymen Rider or Thigh Trang.

I blame TV-Nihon for choosing the spelling that they knew would cause confusion when they are supposed to be a translation group and then going unnecessarily further by covering up the word 'Double' in the official logo.

They covered over what was there in in the Japanese?

Yeah. Keith and I (and a couple local to me Toku friends that came too) spent the entire time heckling and correcting their wapanese speak.

We got a half hour (poorly designed) PowerPoint presentation. "Hurricanger was about ninja" ... gee, ya think? Now let's move on and tell you nothing interesting or important. "Abaranger was..."

And then spend half the time gushing over Philip.

The only redeeming part was when they discussed Actors who had been in musicals [like Prince of Tennis, Sailor Moon etc] and showed photos of how different they were. That was at least entertaining and a good chunk of the people in the room probably didn't know most of it.

Also, Heisei era Tokusatsu is apparently just Kamen Rider and Super Sentai. Nothing else has been made in the last 15 years or whatever.

Keith and I have decided we are organizing a proper "HJU presents:" Toku panel for next year.

Damn. I remember going to a couple toku panels over in Arizona, and they seemed to be a little more informative about everything, not just KR and SS. It was nice to know I wasn't the only person in the entire state that knew who the hell Garo was.

Good luck if y'all do decide to follow up and ultimately do a toku panel for ACen next year.
