September 2025’s Oni Press solicitations deliver a wide-ranging lineup that spans nostalgic revivals, event-driven sci‑fi, cosmic horror, heartfelt trade collections, and literary adaptations. Among the standouts is Wild West C.O.W.-Boys of Moo Mesa #1, a four‑issue revival of the ’90s anthropomorphic Western cartoon. Writer Matt Hotson and artist Juan Gedeon reintroduce Marshal Moo Montana, tasked with investigating disappearances in Moo Mesa and uncovering conspiracies tied to his mentor. Multiple variant covers, including interlocking and foil editions, promise strong collector interest. In cyberpunk territory, Skin Police 2 #1 (Jordan Thomas & Daniel Gete) crafts a haunting speculative future where “Dupes” (illicit black‑market clones) spark hysteria and civil‑liberties conflicts. The Skin Police themselves become controversial symbols, facing off against growing public distrust. This four‑issue arc explores themes of identity, autonomy, and power. Pop‑culture intersects with cosmic comedy in Rick and Morty vs. the Universe #3, launching cross‑reality chaos with Bloodryck, an overpowered Rick variant, and the Non‑Canonical Nine. I’ve been waiting for a Moo Mesa revival for years. I used to wake up every Saturday morning to watch that show with my cousins. Seeing Marshal Moo Montana ride again, especially with modern artwork by Juan Gedeon, feels surreal. I’m glad Oni Press is taking it seriously with all those variant covers. I’ve already pre-ordered the foil and handbook variants. It’s a smart move to merge nostalgia with updated storytelling. And the fact that they’re adding depth to Moo’s backstory? That tells me they’re not just cashing in—they want to expand this world. Hope we get some Dakota Dude flashbacks too.

Skin Police 2 got my attention. I study social justice, and I think this comic is very deep. The story about clones and government control makes me think about real life and freedom. The idea that people call the Skin Police a bad name shows how people fear what they don’t understand. I want to see if the Dupes are really bad or just different. Also, I like sci-fi with action and meaning together.

I’ve read A Thing Called Truth before through Kickstarter, and I’m glad it’s finally getting a wide release. This comic helped me feel okay about not having everything figured out. The relationship between Magdalene and Dorian is messy and honest, and I liked that they didn’t force drama just for drama. Also, the art is soft but powerful. I’ll probably get this version too, because I want to support books with good LGBTQ+ stories that aren’t only about trauma.
