Aladdin 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom Coming This January

One thing I find interesting is that ever since Disney came out with their own take on the story of Aladdin, everyone acts like Disney owns it. They don’t. It’s a public domain fable that’s centuries old. If you want to make an Aladdin movie, there’s really nothing in your way — you can just go out and do it. That’s what visual artist Matt Busch did. Busch has worked in the industry for over three decades, and his resume includes IPs as varied as Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Lord of the Rings. Those are all locked down under corporate ownership. But no one owns Aladdin, so…..Busch presents Aladdin 3477: The Jinn of Wisdom! This isn’t going to be like any other version of Aladdin you’ve ever seen. For one thing, it takes place in the far future. High fantasy meets sci-fi in a world heavily influenced by Star Wars and Indian culture. Aladdin is an adventuring scoundrel surviving in the streets of a futuristic Hong Kong with his sidekick FIDGI (a flying robot, not a monkey). He hears tales of a powerful lamp that could grant his desires of ascending into the elite class, possibly even catching the […]

I love when creators take classic tales and make them feel completely fresh. Setting Aladdin in a futuristic, Star Wars-inspired world sounds like an ambitious and bold move. The mix of sci-fi and Indian culture is something I didn’t know I needed until now. Plus, the inclusion of FIDGI as a robot sidekick is adorable and such a clever twist! January can’t come fast enough for me to watch this.

I’m all for reimagining classic stories, but I’m cautious about this one. Aladdin with flying robots and futuristic Hong Kong feels like it could be over the top. That said, I’m intrigued by the visuals mentioned and the effort Matt Busch put into this project. It’s great to see indie films pushing boundaries—still, I’m reserving judgment until I see it.

This sounds amazing! I love seeing Indian culture represented in unique ways, and combining it with sci-fi is such a fascinating concept. I’m curious to see how the themes from the original Aladdin story translate into this futuristic world. It’s exciting that an indie artist like Matt Busch has the freedom to explore his vision.

The concept of futuristic Hong Kong mixed with high fantasy and Indian culture feels so rich and layered. The fact that Matt Busch sees this as his magnum opus makes me even more excited to see his vision come to life. January 3 can’t come soon enough for me!

As someone in the creative field, I respect Matt Busch’s hustle. Taking a public domain story and turning it into something this ambitious takes guts. It might not please purists, but I’m here for a visually stunning, bold reimagining of Aladdin. Plus, it’s refreshing to see an indie filmmaker tackling such a grand project.

This sounds so cool! I love futuristic stories, and the idea of Aladdin with robots and a sci-fi twist is so unique. I’m already obsessed with FIDGI just from the description. Can we talk about how awesome it is that someone made this as an indie project? Definitely watching this with my friends in January!

I appreciate the ambition here, but I’m a little worried it might be overstuffed. A futuristic Aladdin is a cool idea, but blending sci-fi, fantasy, and cultural elements could get messy if not handled right. Still, I respect Matt Busch’s drive to make this his passion project.

This feels like something I’d see in an anime, and I’m so here for it! Aladdin in the far future, a robot buddy, and a journey to find a magic lamp? Yes, please! I love that it mixes Indian culture with futuristic elements—it feels like something totally new. Can’t wait to stream this in January.
