Also about this talk of a Generation X relaunch, don't count on it. The use of the old font is just meant to get speculation and interest up in the new direction of Uncanny. Second reusing the name Generation X makes little sense now since basically it was a pun which would now just be extremely dated. Plus this is just baseless speculation I could see these characters as an attempt by Marvel/Disney to get around the Fox X-Men movie deal, but of course I am not privy to the exact terms of deal so future characters may also be under the deal.

Well yeah it did since originally Dani was meant to be the focus of the book along her interaction with her new students and old friends. This is part of the reason they got Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir for the book in the first place, Marvel was impressed with their handling of a native American female lead in Skinwalker. Plus there was the thematic similarities which focused on that like the original New Mutants this group were students and not soldiers in some war, you know before Quesada and Bendis torpedoed their premier franchise with the crap that was House of M. I am still still pissed at that since it killed two of my favorite books "Genosha Excalibur" and New X-Men: Academy X, and yes I know New X-Men continued but it turned to crap since Kyle and Yost are unable to write anything without killing off or maiming characters since they have an inability to create drama any other way. I liked Wallflower damn it!

Also without any strong connection to the old Generation X there would be massive fan backlash against thus negating the whole reason of giving a legacy title, see "Genosha Excalibur" for an example. And let's be honest there is no real viable connection to Gen X left open. Jubilee is being turned into a vampire since some sales exec wants some Twilight cash. Chamber is gods knows where after the disaster that was New Warriors. M is spoken for and I doubt Peter David would let her go without a serious fight. Husk, Penance, and Leech are possibilities but their characters lack any motive for leadership roles. As for Emma she has really gone beyond being associated with Gen X and even if they went this way they would have more luck playing on her Hellion ties. And outside of Gaia everyone else affiliated with Generation X is either dead or in appearing in Fantastic Four. Also personally I think Quesada just hates Generation X for some reason, just like how DiDio hates the Titans.
