Seems a bit biased as far as IC goes claiming its not self-contained. I've never read Crisis on Infinite Earths and yet I knew instantly who those people were (well, other than Alexander and Lois--my girlfriend explained who those were). As far as everything else--I imagine a lot of it will be explained going in, but if I recall correctly, they showed WW KILLING Maxwell Lord. Anyone can guess that that wouldn't go over too well with Supes and Bats, no matter what the circumstances. Even without having read the four lead-ins last issues, I got what was going on rather well--so did my g/f, who has read the lead-in minis more sparsely than I have.

As far as Bats dying...HA! No matter how important this book is, its not going to be able to kill Bats and make him Spectre. That'll go to someone else, who will have to deal with all the stupid shite Spec did in DoV. Bats doesn't even BELIEVE in magic. Can you imagine what would happen when all these magic-based beings showed up to kick Spec's arse for what he did, and Bruce-Spectre just goes..."I don't believe in you." ?

I'm pretty sure the goal here is...hm. Thinking on it, he MIGHT be Spectre in 52*. But the Bat-offices gave no sign of this rumor ever really being true in the summer, so who knows. However, 52* would be the perfect place for him to do his "atoning" before handing the mantle over to someone else while he goes back to being Bats in his normal comic.

Oh, and House of M? It really REEKS of two things:

A.) Them fixing (or screwing up worse) what Bendis did in Avengers: D.

B.) Them doing a crossover just because DC is. Sort of like how they did that Identity Disc while DC was doing Identity Crisis. Thing is, IC had been planned to have huge ramifications and what not--ID had not. In the end, only Marvel zombies really cared about it. (Of course, I suppose the same thing can be said for Infinite Crisis, so...) Really though, after what Bendis did in Avengers: D, I'm mostly uninterested in Marvel books. I read Supreme Power, and Iron Man mainly. Occasionally, I'll read Captain America, but I won't touch New Avengers till he quits.

From what I've been hearing the mutant community is being reduced to supposedly 198, and there's a strong rumor Doctor Strange will die and the Scarlet Witch will be Earth's new Sorcerer Supreme.

Infinite Crisis has characters from Earth 2, X, and Prime all appearing again, saying that they somehow survived the original Crisis. God knows how THAT'S gonna be explained.

Well...as my girlfriend explained it, the four characters we saw at IC's end WERE alive from Crisis on Infinite Earths. Apparently, Alexander Luthor made a portal to a place loosely described as heaven, and had already saved Lois, putting her there. Then, after the Superman and Superboy we saw offed the Anti-Monitor, he said he would take them there because "The original hero deserved a better fate", so to speak.

As far as House of M...honestly? I don't care. Scarlet Witch being Sorcerer Supreme is fine, but Bendis had to piss on 30 years of continuity to get her there. And not even like real complicated continuity. Something as simple as Chaos magic. That's retarded. As far as the mutants--198 is still too many--how about 30. There's a nice, manageable number. I would've rather we went further with Morrison's idea of all humans eventually being replaced by mutants, but they didn't like Morrison, so they killed all his nice, innovative ideas... I liked the idea of mutants being an actual minority and having their own culture and whatnot, rather than it just being superheroes that've had their powers from puberty.

Yikes...

After reading this, I have to wonder if this is the plot device Marv Wolfman was talking about from the original Crisis that left the possibility of Barry Allen returning from the dead if someone ever wanted to use the character again. If so, it looks like it didn't just apply to him.

Didn't the concept of Hypertime basically resurrect all those dead Universes. I thought it made all stories within DCU canon.

Speaking of Barry, he's supposed to make an appearance sometime within the next six months. He was supposed to appear on the three worst days of Wally's life. And I believe it'll be on the day Wally dies, since they're saying that after IC, Bart will become the Flash.
