Half-Life Is One Hundred Percent Off

Twenty-five years ago, Gorden Freeman picked up his crowbar and defended his scientific base from an invading army of aliens and parasitic “headcrabs.” Half-Life was considered a revolutionary game when it launched in 1998, and despite the aging graphics, it still holds up now. That’s why today, Valve formally announced Half-Life 3…just kidding. What they actually did was temporarily reduce the Steam price of the original game to zero.

Playing this game as a kid, I remember finding the Graphics looking "realistic" now it didn't age well but it still have a place in my heart.

Getting Half-Life for free on Steam is like a nostalgic gift from the gaming gods. And the discounted sequels and VR game? I'm diving headfirst into Black Mesa. Plus, those Deathmatch maps and player models - talk about a blast from the past! Kudos to Valve for keeping the legacy alive.

This is a fantastic way to bring new players into the Half-Life universe. I've been a fan since the beginning, and seeing these updates and the Steam Deck compatibility is excellent. Let's welcome the new players and show them why Half-Life has been iconic for so long. Finally, Valve acknowledges Half-Life's rightful place as the definitive version. It's good they're encouraging players to shift from Half-Life: Source. I appreciate the attention to detail in the updates, especially the nod to the original 1998 main menu design

Free? What's the catch, Valve? Are they trying to distract us from the fact that they still haven't given us Half-Life 3? I'll grab the free game, sure, but I won't hold my breath for the next installment. Until then, I'll be playing the classics, unchanged and unimproved.
