Tired of unnecessary prequels to popular IP? Too bad, here comes another. Peacock has announced they’re developing a horror series called Crystal Lake that is about the main setting for Friday the 13th BEFORE Jason entered the picture.
And we do mean before. As everyone knows by now, the killer in the original movie wasn’t Jason, but his mother. Jason was only revealed to be alive in the surprise ending. But there will be no surprise appearances or even a glimpse, for even if the producers WANTED to use Jason, they cannot. The rights to the Friday the 13th series are split between two people, one who owns the original movie and another who holds rights to its sequels. It gets more complicated from there, but what it basically means is that Crystal Lake can never have Jason.
Sounds like a disaster in the making, right? ….Not quite. There’s the matter of the...

I've been a fan of this franchise since I was five years old and have been fascinated ever since I can remember. What a lovely Halloween surprise! You have no idea how excited I am for this.

Oh my God, what amazing news! There is a great deal of potential with this prequel, even though it isn't Jason Voorhees as an adult. The backstory of Pamela will be revealed, and this is where it might win me over. Elias Voorhees, Jason's violent father, might finally be apprehended. They've been attempting to include the character in films for years, but sadly it never occurred. Heck, in the deleted scene from Part 6, Elias is seen visiting Jason's grave, and I find myself wondering what they had in store for him.We should seize this chance to finally see this character emerge, and we can only hope that other projects will use him in the future.

An Origin story on why Jason became Evil? This is interesting and I am shock that Peacock will have this since this platform is mostly known for female friendly content.

Who told you that women are not into horror? I love watching 80s slashers and J-horror.

I believe that Jason with a potato sack will appear at some point in the future. In fact, since he owns the rights to adult Jason with the bag, a full season may be devoted to him in the future. However, there won't be any Hockey Mask or Machete, for the most part. Anyway, I'll welcome this and give it a chance as a HUGE fan of the Friday the 13th series and a collector of both merchandise and films. But as you indicated, I'm very confident Pamela will be the main emphasis of this. They will surely lose me and a great deal of other people if they concentrate on weird mystical things and ignore Jason (the child) or his mother. They do mention a prologue, so it must be about them.

I am excited about it and I was always a fan of these horror series suspense thrillers and dramas where we cannot find the killer till the end.

I have always love horror series with a realistic storyline filled with suspense. I'm more excited .
