We now know precisely when we’ll be playing Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, and a whole lot more. Today Square Enix dumped the biggest load of information yet regarding the game, […]

The detail about the gameplay systems they've introduced piques my interest, especially if they're building on the strategic elements from the original. The blend of action and turn-based mechanics in recent entries has always felt a bit off to me, though. I often find myself longing for the depth of decision-making that made the original's battle system so engaging. However, if they can strike the right balance and keep the emphasis on tactical choices, it could elevate the experience significantly. I'm just cautious about whether the narrative will feel as weighty as the original, given how modern adaptations can sometimes stray from that depth.

Everyone acting shocked about the disc needing internet is funny to me. This has been normal for years now. My PS5 barely has any all in one disc games left. I just wish they were honest about it from the start instead of calling it physical.

I am really happy they finally gave us a release date because I was starting to think this game would keep getting pushed back. April 8, 2027 is a long wait, but at least we know when to expect it. The Highwind sounds like one of the best additions for me. I always liked having freedom to explore in Final Fantasy games, so being able to travel around the whole map with it sounds great. I also like the character switching outside combat. Having certain quests tied to specific characters could make exploration more interesting. The outfit system is the part I am less sure about. I liked the FFX-2 system, but I hope the clothes do not make the characters feel too restricted. Overall, there is a lot here that makes me want to play it.

99 dollars for a steelbook and a mini soundtrack is a lot. I love physical stuff but this pricing keeps creeping up every year and nobody stops it because people keep buying day one.

Class system through outfits again, finally. Skill trees are fine but they always end up feeling the same after a while. This way each character can actually be built differently depending on what you put on them, and it gives you a reason to collect different gear instead of ignoring side content. I hope the Summoner path is not just weaker Black Mage with monsters attached like it sometimes felt in older titles. If they balance it properly this could be one of the better systems they have used in the series for a long time.

Two DLC chapters already planned before the base game is even out tells me exactly how this pricing structure works. Buy the expansion pass now, pay again later, just with extra steps.

Pico the chocobo can fly, cute detail, small stuff like this makes the world feel alive instead of just being a map to walk on.

The Highwind is what got me most excited. I just want to fly around the map and land wherever I want. Being able to parachute into an area sounds much better than watching a loading screen every few minutes. I also like that Pico can fly. That should make getting around less annoying when I am not using the Highwind. The character switching idea is interesting too. I can already see myself walking around as Tifa just because I can. The class outfit system could be fun, but I need to see how many outfits there actually are before I decide if I like it. I am mostly just glad Square is giving the world more things to do instead of making it feel like a straight path from one story scene to another.

Sephiroth DLC and Vincent with the Turks? Yeah, I already know what I am buying. I am not even pretending I will wait for some complete edition later. Vincent and the Turks sounds especially interesting because there are so many ways they could handle that story. I also like that Square is planning the DLC ahead of time instead of leaving everything vague. The only thing I do not love is having to wait until winter 2027 and spring 2028 for the extra chapters. By then I will probably have finished the main game several times. Still, if the DLC is substantial, I can live with that. I just hope they do not make the Sephiroth chapter something short that feels like an expensive side mission.

I already preordered the trilogy edition since I never played Remake or Rebirth properly on my old console. Getting both games plus early access to this one for under 85 dollars feels like a fair deal compared to everything else listed here. My only concern is whether jumping straight into Revelation after playing Remake and Rebirth back to back will feel repetitive with mechanics, since I heard they are keeping a lot of the combat systems similar. Still, this is probably the best entry point for someone who missed the earlier releases and wants to catch up before April.
