The Next Step For The Tekken Franchise Is This Weird Cartoon

I'm really curious about this new direction for Tekken with the cartoon! It's definitely a bold move, but I think branching out into different mediums can keep the franchise fresh and introduce it to new audiences. The animation style and storytelling approach will be key. I wonder if they'll dive deeper into character backstories or explore some of the more ludicrous elements of the game lore.

Are you hoping for any specific characters to get more screen time in the show? Personally, I'm a bit of a fan of Jin and his complicated family ties, so I'd love to see that explored further.

I actually like that they didn't try to make another serious anime. Tekken has already done that a few times, and people were not very happy with most of them. If this cartoon is funny and has good action, I'm willing to give it a chance. The designs look strange at first, but sometimes that is exactly what makes a show memorable. I would rather see something different than another project that tries too hard to look cool and ends up feeling boring. As long as the characters still act like themselves, I think this could be fun.

I know some fans are already saying this looks terrible, but I'm not judging it from one trailer. A lot of animated shows look weird before you actually watch them. If the writing is good and the jokes land, I don't really care if everyone has big heads and funny faces. Tekken has always had serious moments mixed with crazy characters anyway, so this doesn't feel completely out of place to me.

I'm honestly surprised they went in this direction, but maybe that's the right move. Every time Tekken gets adapted, people compare it to the games and end up disappointed. This cartoon doesn't seem interested in copying the game style, and that might actually help it stand on its own. I just hope they don't forget that people still want cool fights. Funny animation is fine, but Tekken without exciting fights would feel incomplete.

This feels like Bandai Namco finally accepted that not every adaptation has to be serious. I actually respect that. They already tried movies and anime that wanted to look realistic, and those didn't become huge hits. At least now they are trying something people won't confuse with the older projects. Even if I don't end up loving it, I can appreciate that they're taking a risk instead of repeating the same formula again.

I laughed when I saw the designs. Kuma especially looks funny. I don't know if this will be good or bad, but it definitely got my attention. That's already more than I can say for some of the previous Tekken shows. I'll probably watch the first episode just because I'm curious.

I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me misses the serious style because Tekken's story already has family drama, revenge, and big tournaments that could work in animation. On the other hand, the games also have dancing bears, robots, ninjas, and aliens, so maybe a cartoon isn't as strange as it sounds. I'm keeping my expectations reasonable until we see more than a short trailer. It could end up being a fun surprise, or it could disappear after a few episodes. Right now I think it's too early to call it a success or a failure.
