Project Hail Mary Comes To Blu-Ray August 11...And October 13

I'm really excited about Project Hail Mary! I loved the book, so I'm hoping the adaptation does it justice. The announcement about the Blu-Ray release on August 11 feels like a bit of a double-edged sword, though. It's awesome that we'll finally get to see it outside of MGM+, but I'm curious how well it will translate to the screen. What are your thoughts on the casting? I've seen some mixed reactions, especially regarding the lead. Do you think they'll be able to capture the depth of the story?

I'm glad they're giving this a physical release because I still like owning movies I really enjoy. Streaming services keep moving things around, and sometimes you need another subscription just to watch one film. A Blu-ray is something I can keep without worrying about where it ends up next year. The Steelbook also sounds interesting, but I'm going to wait and see what the extra bonus disc actually includes before spending that much money. If the extra features are worth it and the price drops a little, I'll probably go with that version instead.

I actually like that they're releasing both versions instead of making everything exclusive to the expensive edition. Some collectors want the Steelbook, while other people just want the movie with the basic bonus features. That feels like a fair approach. I'm curious about the deleted scenes because sometimes they explain ideas that didn't make it into the final cut. Even if they're not essential, they're still fun to watch after you've already seen the movie.
