It's disappointing to hear that the new Doctor Who series on Disney+ isn't meeting expectations. With all the hype surrounding it, fans were really hoping for a strong revival. It'll be interesting to see how they adjust their approach moving forward.

I'm really curious to see how this all plays out when the new Doctor Who finally lands on Disney+. I get the feeling that a lot of people are going in with mixed expectations, especially given the history of the show and the hype surrounding it. The classic Whovian charm can be tough to translate for new viewers, and it sounds like Disney's hoping to attract a wider audience, but those "high-standard metrics" can set up some pretty unrealistic expectations.

This reminds me a bit of when Netflix took a swing at reviving some older shows. Sometimes they nail it, like with Queer Eye, and other times it feels like they miss the mark, like with the recent reboot of The Midnight Club. As someone who has watched Doctor Who for years, I think people are being too dramatic about it being over forever. The BBC clearly still wants the brand. Putting it out to competitive tender means they're looking for a new direction. The real question is whether another company can balance respecting the show's history while making it work for modern audiences. That has always been the challenge. I just hope they stop chasing trends and focus on telling good stories again.

I actually enjoyed parts of Ncuti Gatwa's run, so it's disappointing to see it end like this. He had energy and charisma, and I don't think the problems were entirely on him. The writing felt inconsistent to me. Some episodes were fun, while others seemed more interested in shocking viewers than building a strong season. Leaving his Doctor with an unresolved regeneration feels unfair to both the actor and the fans who supported him.

I think Disney expected Doctor Who to become a massive global hit overnight, and that was never realistic. This is a long-running British sci-fi series with a dedicated audience. Not every franchise is going to produce huge numbers immediately. Throwing money at something doesn't automatically make it a success. If the expectations were too high from the start, then maybe this outcome was always possible.
