WHO’S GONNA DIE? The Stranger Things Conversation No One Wants To Have

Whelp, with T-minus less than a week to go, it’s time to write the article I’ve been dreading. I love Stranger Things, I love these characters, and I want them all to wind up in a good place. However the likelihood of the finale killing someone off is very high. “But this show never kills anyone,” some say….well, it’s definitely killing someone this time, and someone who’s a major player. The Duffers have said you’ll be “crying into your popcorn” as everyone weeps around you in the series finale. They haven’t been subtle about it. I had my guesses, and my fears, but after watching Season 5 and observing all the dominoes being set up, one fan theory has taken a giant leap forward. It brings me no pleasure to give you this news, so please try not to shoot the messenger. Here are the five lead suspects. Deep breath; we’re diving in. WILL Odds: 90% THE CASE FOR In the D&D game that opens the series, Will Byers The Wise, heroic magician, makes a sacrifice to save his party. The Duffers have said “everything comes full circle” in the ending which could definitely mean he does it in reality. […]

Honestly, I’m totally not ready for this. If Will dies, I’m gonna be devastated. The signs are all there, though. They’ve set it up so perfectly for him to make the ultimate sacrifice. It’s kind of poetic, right? He’s had such a tough journey, and it feels like he’s been fighting for everyone all along. But the fact that they’re emphasizing “It Begins and Ends With Will” really makes me think they’ll pull the trigger on this one. He’s been through so much already, and I’d hate to see him go, but if he does, it’ll hit hard. My heart’s already breaking just thinking about it. I’m not even sure if I can watch this finale without crying my eyes out.

I really don’t know if El can die. I mean, I get that they’re setting up this big emotional ending, but there’s something about her that makes me think she’s untouchable. Sure, the whole “sacrifice” angle has been teased for ages, but I just don’t see El going out like that. She’s always been the one who takes action, who stands up when no one else can. The show may make us think she’s gonna die, but I’m not buying it. The whole waterfall thing feels like a big hint she’s going to pull through somehow. And let’s be real, she’s not going to go out like a hero who dies and leaves everyone behind. That’s just not her vibe.

Ok, but I seriously hope Steve and Dustin don’t go. I’m not mentally prepared for that. I get that they made this “you die, I die” pact, but it just feels too obvious. I’m not sure Stranger Things would go for something so cliché. These two are so beloved by fans, and it doesn’t make sense to just kill them off for shock value. I can see them being put in danger, maybe facing a big moment of tension, but to actually take them out? Nah, I’m not feeling it. I really believe that if a character’s been built up with so much love, they’re not gonna get offed just for the sake of it. If they do, I’m gonna be pissed.

Honestly, I'm really hoping they don't kill El. She's been through so much already and the whole idea of her dying feels like too much. It would make a huge emotional impact, but I’m not ready for that. Plus, the show has already shown how much everyone relies on her, and if they take her out, it’s going to leave a massive hole. There’s still so much she can do in the story, especially with all the mystery surrounding her powers. I’m kind of on the edge about this one. They’ve done a good job setting her up for a potential sacrifice, but I’m just hoping they don’t go there. Fingers crossed!

Will’s death would honestly make so much sense, but it’s gonna be so heartbreaking. It’s like they’ve been building up to it for seasons. The whole thing with his powers, and now he’s heading back into the Upside Down, it just screams “sacrifice” to me. It’s tragic, though. I just can’t imagine the show without him. He’s always been such a core part of the group, and it’s like they’ve been setting him up for this moment for ages. The worst part? His death would hit the hardest, especially because it feels like he deserves a happy ending. But I guess if anyone’s going to make the ultimate sacrifice for the team, it has to be him. It’s going to wreck me if they go there.

Okay, I’m not ready for any of this. I’m all in on the idea that Will might die. It’s kind of tragic that his whole arc has been leading up to this. The guy’s been through so much—he literally went missing for an entire season. But I get it; his powers, the whole “full circle” thing, it feels like it’s all pointing to a heroic sacrifice. I think it’s gonna happen, and when it does, I’m gonna be so emotional. This show is really good at making you care, and the fact that Will might go out like this? It’s gonna break hearts. I’m just hoping they give him a good send-off.

It’s gotta be Will, right? I mean, it just feels like they’ve set everything up for him to be the one who sacrifices himself. The powers, the emotional weight, the “full circle” vibes—they all point to Will making the ultimate move. I’ll be devastated if that happens, but it would make sense. He’s been the character who’s struggled the most, and if anyone’s going to go out heroically, it’s him. I’ve been speculating for a while now, and I can’t think of anyone else who fits this narrative. Will’s death will hit hard, and I’m already preparing myself for the tears.
