This year The Twenty-Sided Tavern, an Actual Play series officially sanctioned by Dungeons & Dragons owners Wizards of the Coast, will tour around the country in multiple showings across many states. That must’ve made Critical Role, the Actual Play team that arguably started the whole popularity of this kind of thing, stand up and take notice — because they just one-upped TST with the announcement of a GLOBAL tour. It’s called the Echoes of Exandria tour and each presentation will be different: a brand-new one-shot story set somewhere in CR’s world of Exandria with unique staging, surprise guests, and merch drops. The entire crew will be present: Matthew Mercer, Ashley Johnson, Marisha Ray, Taliesin Jaffe, Travis Willingham, Sam Riegel, Laura Bailey, and Liam O’Brien. The tour will consist of five stops: Atlanta, Georgia; Berlin, Germany; Edinburgh, Scotland; London, England; and Fort Worth, Texas. So they finally decided to tour after all this time, but only five cities? And only one in the U.S. besides Atlanta? Seems like they’re doing the bare minimum just to say it’s a “global tour.” I’m not saying I’m not interested, but I live on the West Coast and now I have to either buy a plane ticket or just watch other people enjoy it. And why is Mercer not running the Texas show? That feels weird. I still love the show and respect what they’ve built, but this feels more like a publicity event than something made for the fans. Hope I’m wrong.

Okay, this is the biggest news of my week. I started watching CR during Campaign 3 and now I can’t go a week without them. I live in Edinburgh, so I feel like I hit the lottery. I’m going to camp out in front of my computer the second tickets go on sale. I wonder who the surprise guests will be. Could it be Brennan? Brennan and Matt on one stage would destroy me (in a good way). I’ll definitely bring some friends who haven’t watched CR yet — maybe this will convert them. I hope we’re allowed to cosplay too.

Let me just sell my kidney real quick so I can go to all five stops. I’m joking. Kind of. I love that the cast is doing something fresh. I just need to know: will Laura sing? Will Sam wear something ridiculous? Will Taliesin bring a skull? I NEED ANSWERS. I missed out on the original live shows back in the day, and I’ve been regretting it ever since. But now I’ve got a chance. Thank you, Beacon, for giving us early ticket access. Please don’t crash.
