Late Pledges Now Open For Two Vaesen Expansions

Free League ran a Kickstarter last fall for two new expansions to their Vaesen RPG: Mythic Carpathia and City of My Nightmares. I can’t recall this site actually reporting on them (our bad), but if you missed them as well, it’s not too late. Free League just opened a page on PledgeManager to allow for tardy pledges. In Vaesen, you and your friends play paranormal investigators in the 19th century who happen to be somewhat paranormal themselves. You have the gift known as “the Sight” which means you can spot extradimensional phenomena that would be invisible to most people. Usually, this will take the form of horrible monsters you’ll be forced to do battle with. But it’s all in a day’s work. Vaesen is based on the creations of Swedish illustrator and author Johan Egerkrans, and was written by Nils Hintze who also wrote Free League’s Tales From The Loop. Here’s what you get with each volume. Mythic Carpathia, written by a team of Polish and Ukrainian writers, changes the setting to Central and Eastern Europe, where you’ll meet the Prague branch of the Society and deal with over a dozen new creatures including Drekavac, Golem, Baba Yaga and the […]

These Vaesen expansions look like they're buzzin Mythic Carpathia is the one that really stands out to me. The setting is so evocative, and I can't wait to see the new creatures and mysteries it brings. I'm also excited to see how they handle the cultural context of the region. City of My Nightmares sounds like a more traditional Vaesen campaign, but I'm still interested in seeing what it has to offer. I'll be checking out the PledgeManager page later today.

Have a feeling that these expansions look like they'll add a lot of depth and content to the game, and I'm particularly interested in Mythic Carpathia. The folklore of Central and Eastern Europe is a treasure trove of spooky stories and monstrous beings, and I'm excited to see how they're incorporated into the game. City of My Nightmares also sounds like a fun campaign, and I'm always up for a good investigation. I'm definitely going to look into these expansions further.

I'm a big fan of historical horror, so Vaesen has always been on my radar. I'm really glad to see these expansions coming out, and I appreciate the heads-up about the late pledges. Mythic Carpathia sounds like a particularly compelling addition to the game. The folklore of Eastern Europe is often overlooked, but it's full of chilling tales and monstrous beings. I'm eager to see how the writers incorporate these elements into the game. The inclusion of locations like Prague, Ukraine, and Transylvania makes it even more appealing. City of My Nightmares sounds like a more traditional Vaesen campaign, but I'm still interested in seeing what mysteries it holds. I'm definitely going to check out the PledgeManager page and see what's available.

Vaesen already has such a unique setting, and adding Mythic Carpathia and City of My Nightmares just expands the possibilities. I love the idea of bringing in folklore from Central and Eastern Europe—Baba Yaga and the Drekavac sound like terrifying and fascinating additions. The fact that the new setting is written by Polish and Ukrainian writers makes it feel even more authentic. And City of My Nightmares? A mystery unfolding in Stockholm with ties to the origins of the Society? That’s got serious potential. Can’t wait for September!

I missed the Kickstarter, so I'm very happy to see that late pledges are now open. Vaesen is such a unique and atmospheric RPG, and I'm excited to see what new content these expansions bring. Mythic Carpathia is definitely the one I'm most excited about. The setting is perfect for Vaesen, and I can't wait to encounter all the new creatures. I'm especially intrigued by the Golem. City of My Nightmares sounds like a great campaign, and I'm always a fan of investigations that delve into the lore of the game world. I'll be pledging for both of these as soon as I can!

I love when RPGs really embrace world-building, and these expansions sound like they’re packed with atmosphere. A sprawling mystery in Stockholm? A Society branch in Prague? That’s the kind of material that can inspire months of storytelling. It also sounds like these books are loaded with lore and handouts, which makes my job as a GM so much easier. Definitely backing this one.
