Another Brief Look At Hulu's Alien: Earth

Last year, Hulu gave us a five-second promo indicating their anticipated sci-fi action drama Alien: Earth, a prequel to the beloved film series, was on the way. The video was the reflection of the Earth in a Xenomorph’s head. That was it…that was all we got. All these months later, they’ve finally released a new promo, which means they must finally have some finished footage to show us, right? ….Wrong, apparently! It’s another brief tease that does nothing but re-confirm the show exists. At least it’s cooler to watch than the previous one, taking place from the POV of a Xeno (but they have no eyes….eh, don’t worry about it) as it slithers across a series of Nostromo-like corridors while the familiar Alien “siren” goes off. Fortunately we do have some kind of an idea as to what this is about, even if the promos don’t say much. Alien: Earth is set thirty years before the original 1979 “Alien” movie, and as the title says, is about the famed monster visiting our planet. Says Hulu, “When a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sydney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that […]

"Alien: Earth? Yes, please! I can't wait to see the Xenomorphs wreak havoc on Earth thirty years before the original movie. The idea of a ragtag group of soldiers facing down this iconic alien menace is pure gold. Who cares if the trailers are short? The mystery only adds to the hype! Just throw it on Hulu already so I can binge-watch the entire season in one sitting!"

I'm choosing to be optimistic about Alien: Earth. Sure, the trailers haven't been much to go on, but I trust Noah Hawley's vision. The fact that the series is set on Earth adds a fresh twist to the Alien mythos. And hey, even if it's not a perfect recreation of the original, it could still be a fun popcorn flick. Let's not judge a book by its cover (or a show by its trailers) before we've given it a chance.

Look, I get the excitement for a new Alien series, but let's be realistic. The trailers haven't exactly shown us anything groundbreaking. Is discovering how Weyland-Yutani knew about Xenomorphs really that interesting of a premise? There's a fine line between nostalgia and rehashing old ideas. I'll reserve judgment until I see the actual show, but right now, my expectations are lukewarm

I'm so excited for Alien: Earth! Prey was such a great movie, and I can't wait to see more of the Xenomorph's origins. I hope they keep the same gritty, realistic tone as Prey.

I'm most intrigued by the visual potential of this show. If they can capture the eerie atmosphere and iconic design of the original Alien films, it could be a visual masterpiece. I'm hoping for stunning cinematography, terrifying creature effects, and a truly unsettling atmosphere
