If you’re a AAA video game publisher in the 2020s and you just released a popular, crowd-pleasing game, what’s the first thing you do? That’s correct…you say it “didn’t meet sales expectations” and you fire the whole team behind it. Ubisoft’s Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is the latest victim of this self-destructive strategy. This time, however, the team who made the game was not exactly “fired.” Ubisoft was quick to release a statement that said most of them have been shuffled into the group endlessly trying to make Beyond Good And Evil 2 happen, while the remainder have been sent to work on….a Rayman remake. This was the first public mention of such a thing. The original 1995 Rayman is arguably the game that first made the world sit up and take notice of the French studio in the first place and eventually turned them into the powerhouse they are today. But is Ubisoft as it is capable of making a game like this again, even if all they really have to do is copy what their predecessors have already done?
