In just a few days Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER, the sequel to the hit indie game 2064: Read Only Memories, will be released…but if you want to hear what it sounds like TODAY, it’s an option. The game’s soundtrack has been officially released ahead of the game itself. You may have noticed a lot of games from the early 90s had this crunchy, grungy chiptune sound, most notably on the Genesis…this is due to the FM synth chip that was included in some systems. Scarlet Moon’s Ken “coda” Snyder has adapted this style for the NEURODIVER soundtrack, creating an authentic feel for the game’s throwback point-and-click aesthetic. “I’m thrilled to bring players into the world of Neo-SF with this tribute to the sound of Japan’s iconic home computer era,” says coda. “Grounseed (1996, PC-9801) by Ryu Takami and Ryu Umemoto was a big influence on the palette of sounds.
