This review covers two (2) K-drama series with the word ‘Elegant’ in the title. They are similar in that both storylines are about a wealthy family with the same problems as ordinary families, except on a much grander scale. ♦ From Family to Empire In “Elegant Family” the chaebol (family-controlled conglomerate) is the MC Group, and the storyline revolves around the life of a chaebol heiress. She meets an honest lawyer and they are both trying to uncover certain truths that were buried for 15 years. In “Elegant Empire”, the corporation is Elegant Empire Entertainment; and there are two people who are seeking justice in the form of revenge because they were robbed of their lives. All families – rich or poor – have problems, but unlike an ordinary family, wealthy families get away with extraordinary things, such as: They can cover up murders and other misdeeds because they have the resources to offer bribes in different forms like the deed to a villa in the countryside or pay out

The Elegant Empire boasts quite the star-studded cast! From Han Ji-wan's dual roles to Kim Jin-woo's portrayal of the seemingly perfect yet flawed Gi-yun, there's no shortage of talent in this series.

I'm intrigued by the intricate plots of these K-dramas. "Elegant Empire" seems to delve into the darker side of wealth and power, with its Cinderella-turned-horror storyline. The idea of a doppelganger and a wealthy CEO hiding a monstrous side behind his public facade adds a thrilling twist. Despite some setbacks with cast changes, I'm curious to see how the series unfolds and whether it lives up to the expectations set by "Elegant Family."

"Elegant Family" pulls at the heartstrings with Mo Seok-Hee's journey to uncover her mother's murder while facing opposition from her own family. And "Elegant Empire" dives deep into the complexities of relationships and revenge, with its gripping plot twists. Despite its long runtime, I'm tempted to binge-watch both series to see how they tackle the challenges faced by their characters.

I love a good underdog story, and "Elegant Family" seems to deliver just that with Mo Seok-Hee's quest for justice against a powerful conglomerate. The dynamics within wealthy families always make for compelling drama, especially when secrets are involved. Plus, the chemistry between Mo Seok-Hee and Heo Yoon-Do sounds promising

I'm a sucker for a good mystery, and "Elegant Family" seems to have it in spades with its intriguing premise of uncovering buried truths. Mo Seok-Hee's quest for justice against a powerful conglomerate promises plenty of suspense and drama. And with Heo Yoon-Do by her side, it sounds like they make quite the dynamic duo. Add in the family dynamics and you've got a recipe for some riveting television!
