The original Star Trek series definitely had its highs, especially with episodes like "The City on the Edge of Forever." That one nailed the emotional stakes perfectly, and the performance by Joan Collins still gives me chills. But then there were episodes that felt kind of dated or just didn't hit right, like "Spock's Brain", I mean, what even was that? It's wild to think how such a short run had such a massive impact on the sci-fi genre and the way we view storytelling in television. The legacy is undeniable, even if not every episode lands.

Man I still remember watching reruns of this on a tiny CRT TV as a kid. Three seasons and it changed everything after. Kind of crazy how short the original run actually was compared to how big the whole franchise became. Nine hours of bonus stuff sounds like a lot to dig through. Might have to wait for a price drop though, my wallet is not ready right now.

Honestly the price difference between DVD and Blu-ray being only three dollars is interesting. Feels like they want everyone to just get the Blu-ray anyway. The vinyl and lobby cards are a nice touch for collectors but not something I personally need. I already have the 50th set so this one is skippable for me, good to know it is basically the same content without the movies and animated series bundled in.
