I actually watched this opening weekend and the concept is way better than the execution. Sara's design work is genuinely creepy in a good way but the plot makes some jumps that lost me. Still worth a watch for genre fans, just keep expectations at rental level not theater level.

The whole idea of coding a partner to fill emotional gaps hits different in 2026 when this is basically happening already with apps. Movie just took it to extreme conclusion. Not groundbreaking storytelling but the concept alone makes it worth discussing with friends after.

David Rysdahl continues to be that guy who is in everything good lately. Oppenheimer, now this, dude is building a real career. His acting carried scenes that the script did not really earn honestly.


5.8 rating feels about right. Not bad, not great, just okay. I went in expecting M3GAN level fun and got something more serious and heavy instead. Different tone completely, so adjust your expectations before pressing play.

Lily Sullivan stole every scene she was in. The way she shifts from soft to threatening without warning was the best part of the whole movie for me. Wish the rest of the film matched her energy honestly.

I actually liked the idea of making the M3GAN universe more personal. David changing Sara’s emotional settings because he misses his wife makes the whole situation feel more believable to me. He is not just building a robot because he can. He is trying to replace something he lost, and that is where everything starts going wrong. I also like that Sara does not simply become evil for no reason. Her behavior comes from the changes David makes to her. That makes their relationship more interesting. Lily Sullivan was also a good choice for this kind of role because she can make Sara seem vulnerable and threatening at the same time. The 5.8 rating does not surprise me, but I would still watch it because I like AI horror when it focuses on the human side.

I found the idea of David basically creating his own problem pretty interesting. He is grieving, so I understand why he gets attached to Sara, but changing her emotional settings was obviously going to cause trouble. What I liked most was the idea that Sara learns human emotions from someone who is already emotionally damaged. That gives her a very strange foundation for becoming independent. I also like that this is not just another robot chasing people around a house. The relationship between David and Sara seems to be the main point, and the violence comes from that relationship getting worse. I have not seen enough to say whether the movie fully works, but the setup is much better than I expected from a M3GAN spinoff. David’s choices are what make me interested.

Ethical AI questions again but through a horror lens this time. We keep getting these movies and I keep watching them even though the message is basically the same every time.

M3GAN spinoffs are becoming their own thing now. Curious where this universe goes next after this one. Hope they explore Sara's perspective more in a sequel if they make one.
