I caught "Below" when it arrived in July, and I gotta say, it was more gripping than I expected. Josh Hartnett really delivered a solid performance, and the Newfoundland setting added such an eerie atmosphere. The mix of supernatural elements with real suspense worked well, even if some of the plot twists felt a bit familiar. The way they blended horror with darker human themes reminded me a lot of "The Haunting of Hill House." Anyone else think it did a good job with character development, or was that just me?

Josh Hartnett doing horror in a fishing town setting actually sounds like a fresh combo. Most creature shows just throw jump scares at you but this one seems to build on isolation and old secrets first. That trailer line about getting out of the water hit different too, simple but effective.

Mackenzie Davis picked another great project honestly. She has good instinct for roles that mix science with something eerie, remember Halt and Catch Fire, she brought so much depth there.


six episodes is the right length for this kind of story imo. long enough to build dread short enough not to drag. netflix been doing better with limited series lately

Newfoundland setting alone sold me on this. that place already looks haunted with the fog and old fishing villages, no cgi needed honestly. the folklore angle with the sea creature could either be amazing or completely wasted if they rush it in six episodes.

wait so the kid is also getting affected by the creature somehow? that adds a whole different layer to this. not just monster attacks but like generational curse type stuff with the dad's death too. interested to see how they connect all that

I read the plot twice and I still cannot tell if this creature is real or some kind of metaphor for the town keeping secrets. either way I am here for it
josh hartnett really out here proving he still got range after all these years. from pearl harbor to oppenheimer now doing supernatural horror, dude picks interesting stuff

Not sure why every horror thing now needs six family secrets and generational trauma attached to it. sometimes a sea monster is just a sea monster, let people be scared without needing a whole emotional backstory for every character involved in the story

october release date lines up perfectly with spooky season honestly, netflix knows what they doing with timing
