I’ve always been a fan of the Octopath Traveler series! The art style is stunning, and the gameplay really captures that classic JRPG feel while still feeling fresh. It's cool to see that they're remastering them for Switch 2—gives new players a chance to dive in with the enhanced graphics and performance.

Honestly, if you haven’t played these yet, now might be the perfect time to start! And for those who have, it’s always great to see beloved titles get some love in the form of remasters. I’m interested to see if they add any new content or features besides just the visual upgrades. What do you think?

I already own both games on Switch, and I don't see enough here to buy them again. Better resolution and 60 FPS are nice, but not for another full-price purchase. The save issue is the biggest problem for me. If I already spent dozens of hours on my old file, I don't want to start over just because I changed consoles. That makes upgrading much less appealing. I'll just keep playing the versions I already have.

I never understand why companies charge full price for upgrades that barely change anything. If someone already bought the game, there should at least be a cheap upgrade option. Other companies have done that before, so it's not impossible. I like Octopath Traveler a lot, but this feels more like paying twice than getting a real new version.

The save incompatibility completely killed my interest. I can accept small visual improvements, but losing my progress is where I stop. I don't replay long RPGs often because I don't have that much free time anymore. If Square made saves work across both versions, I probably would have considered buying the upgrade.

If someone has never played either game before, then I think buying the Switch 2 version makes sense. They get the sharper image and smoother performance from the beginning, so they won't feel like they're paying twice. But for existing owners, I really don't see much value here unless they absolutely want the best version available.

This is one of those releases that feels unnecessary to me. The original games weren't struggling on Switch enough for me to think they needed a new version already. I expected something extra like new content, quality-of-life features, or at least cross-save support. Instead, it sounds like a small technical update with a premium price.

Honestly, I think I'll just wait for another sale if I ever decide to upgrade. Square games usually get discounts eventually, and I don't feel any pressure to buy this on day one. Nothing here sounds urgent enough. I can keep enjoying my current copies until the price makes more sense.

The graphics were never the reason I liked Octopath Traveler. The story, music, combat, and HD-2D style are what made it memorable for me. Those things are already there on the original Switch versions. Better performance is always nice, but it doesn't suddenly make the game feel new. Unless there are more improvements that haven't been announced yet, I don't think this upgrade is worth buying for people who already own both games.
