ICE CREAM MAN ~ Eli Roth’s Chilling New Horror Vision

I have a soft spot for horror movies that start with something childish and turn it into something disturbing. Ice cream is one of those things that should feel safe, so using it in a horror movie is smart. That alone gives the film a strong visual hook. I also think Eli Roth being attached changes the tone in a way that will probably split people. Some people will want more style and more blood, and some will think he pushes too hard. I usually land in the middle, but I am open to this. The trailer sounds like it is going for slow dread instead of nonstop noise, which I like more. If the script gives the vendor a good backstory and not just random killing, then I think this could work better than people expect.

I grew up watching horror movies that were more strange than polished, so this one catches my attention fast. The title alone makes me think of something I would have found in a late-night rental shelf. Eli Roth taking that and making it bigger is not a bad idea. I know people have mixed feelings about him, but I cannot deny that he has a clear style. He likes shock, but he also likes making the audience uneasy before anything happens. That matters here. I want to see how he handles the vendor character, because that role has to be a little charming or the whole setup falls flat. The creepy friendly face is the whole point. If they get that right, I think the movie could be more effective than people expect from a remake of a cult oddity.
