I might be in the minority, but I felt that "Chicago Typewriter" really brings something unique to the table with its mix of genres. The way it weaves in historical elements with supernatural twists is fascinating, and I loved the romantic tension between the characters. The humor provides a nice balance, too, which is something I appreciate in K-dramas.

What I liked most was that the drama respected writers. So many stories focus on soldiers and fighters, but this one gave attention to people who resisted through books, newspapers, and ideas. That perspective felt refreshing. The quote about the typewriter being mightier than the gun sounds dramatic, but after seeing the story unfold, I understood what it meant. The show argues that preserving culture and identity can be just as important as fighting on a battlefield. That message worked for me without feeling forced.

I enjoyed it, but I will admit it is not a drama I would recommend to everyone. Some people prefer fast-paced stories, and this one takes its time building the mystery. If someone only watches for romance, they might end up disappointed because there are other themes that receive just as much attention. Personally, I liked that balance. The historical storyline, mystery, and supernatural elements all worked together. It is definitely one of the more unique Korean dramas I have seen, even if it is not perfect.

The flashback scenes were easily the highlight for me. Every time the story returned to the resistance movement, I felt more tension and emotion. The modern storyline served its purpose, but the historical characters felt larger than life. I found myself wishing there were even more episodes focused on them. The drama did a good job making me care about people whose fates were already hanging over them from the beginning. That is not easy to do.

One thing I appreciate is that the show trusted the audience. It did not rush to explain every mystery immediately. Sometimes that can be frustrating, but here it made me more curious. I spent several episodes trying to figure out how all the pieces fit together. By the time the answers arrived, they felt earned. I also liked that the supernatural elements were used to support the story instead of taking over everything. The focus stayed on the characters and their history.
