Capcom’s SF6 Finale Adds a Cosmic Goddess, a Mascot Fighter, and Avatar Arcade Mode

Ingrid and Monoid are such wild choices for characters! I love that they’re willing to shake things up and bring in these more unconventional fighters. The Avatar Arcade Mode sounds particularly intriguing, especially since it seems like it could be a cool way for players to engage with their own styles and preferences. It makes me curious about how deep the customization will go.

Do you think these new characters will have unique mechanics that set them apart from the current roster? I’m hoping to see some wild combos and strategies emerge from this update!

The corrupted Ingrid boss is probably the thing I want to see most. Capcom used to make final bosses feel terrifying, and modern fighting games lost some of that atmosphere because everything became focused on esports balance. A screen-filling nuclear attack sounds dramatic in a good way. I also think Avatar Arcade Mode could help casual players stay interested longer because not everyone wants to grind ranked matches all day. Monoid is still the biggest gamble here though. Sometimes mascot fighters become fan favorites, and sometimes they disappear forever after one game. I genuinely cannot predict how players will react to it long term.

I honestly would not be shocked if tournament players start asking for Ingrid bans during the first month. Screen control, cosmic attacks, weird movement, and that floating mascot thing connected to her update already sound like a balance nightmare waiting to happen. Capcom sometimes releases characters that feel completely unfair at launch before they calm things down with patches later. I can already imagine clips of Ingrid trapping people in the corner while Monoid players fly around the screen doing strange setups. Even if she does not get officially banned, she will probably get a reputation online fast if top players start abusing her tools.

LOL I already know I’m going to be completely evil with Ingrid online. The second I find the cheapest setup, I’m abusing it nonstop. If she has broken screen control, annoying pressure, or impossible mixups, that is exactly what I’m using. I love characters that make people rage quit and start typing essays after the match. People always complain about “honest” gameplay until they start losing. Meanwhile I’ll be over here spamming cosmic nonsense and laughing while the timer runs out. If Capcom really made her unfair, then congratulations to them because I am 100% the target audience for cheap characters.

I’m not fully sold on Monoid yet. The design sounds cute, but sometimes joke characters become frustrating because developers make them intentionally strange. Floating movement and weird hit detection could become very annoying online if the balance is off. Ingrid returning is cool though. She has one of the most unique visual styles Capcom ever made. I also like that they kept her classic costume because older fans usually care about that stuff a lot. The gothic boss version sounds better than her normal version honestly. I almost wish that design was the default instead because it sounds much more memorable.

Monoid already sounds annoying and the character is not even out yet. Fast floating characters with weird hitboxes are usually a nightmare in fighting games. I can already picture tournament clips where attacks completely miss because the hurtbox is tiny. Still, I respect Capcom for trying something different instead of repeating the same formula every season. At least people will talk about this update instead of forgetting it after one week.

That Level 3 sounds completely over the top in a good way. Ingrid turning into a giant alone already changes the whole mood of a match, but the part where the opponent gets shrunk makes it even more unsettling in gameplay terms. It flips the scale so hard that it almost looks like the game engine is breaking, but it’s clearly intentional.

The “sparkles” being meteors from the opponent’s view is a really strong visual idea too. From Ingrid’s side it probably looks calm and almost gentle, but for the player getting hit it’s basically a disaster falling from the sky. That contrast is what makes it feel so extreme, like you’re not just being attacked but placed in a totally different world where the rules don’t match anymore.

It reminds me more of a final boss cinematic than a normal super move. If this is really how it’s implemented, it’s the kind of animation people will replay just to show friends because it goes way beyond standard fighting game supers.

The funniest thing to me is how Capcom suddenly acts like Ingrid has always been super important to Street Fighter lore. Back then she felt random, but now they are presenting her like a major character returning after years away. Still, I have to admit the moveset looks pretty good. The Sun Crest system reminds me of characters that become stronger when the player stays patient instead of rushing nonstop. I actually prefer that style because modern fighting games sometimes feel too fast for me. Ingrid seems like a character where positioning matters more than wild offense. Also, if Tifa actually joins Year 4, ranked mode is going to become complete chaos.
