Two Spider-Man Books With Familiar Titles Hit This Summer

If you ask most comic shop owners, they’ll tell you a major motion picture starring a superhero usually DOESN’T result in a big bump in sales for that superhero’s comics…but […]

Hey, that's an interesting point! It's kind of wild how the cinema hype doesn't always translate to comic sales, right? I mean, you'd think everyone would rush to pick up the comics after seeing their favorite heroes on the big screen. But I guess it’s a different vibe altogether. Those new Spider-Man titles do have a nice ring to them, though. I’m definitely excited to see what they bring to the table this summer! Anyone else planning to check them out?

hey see a movie coming and just recycle old titles to trick people into thinking it's connected. Long Way Home sounds kinda cool with Hulk and Punisher as new guys in that world, fighting over the Cosmic Cube. But calling the other one Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day when the movie is Spider-Man: Brand New Day? That's not even trying to hide it. Dan Slott writing both is funny though, guy can't escape his own history. I bet the ongoing one lasts maybe 12 issues tops after the movie hype dies. Still buying them day one because Spider-Man.

I don't get why they keep doing this. Every big movie they push comics with similar names but different stories. Long Way Home has its own thing going with the Cosmic Cube in South America, that could be interesting if they don't mess it up. But Brand New Day again? The 2008 run was okay but it feels lazy to reuse the name now. Kingpin losing his Lexicon book and hunting Spidey sounds basic. Hope the art is good at least. Marvel needs fresh ideas, not this title recycling.

Haha Marvel is so obvious with these. "Long Way Home" – yeah we all remember people thinking that was the third movie title anyway. Putting Hulk and Punisher in a world where nobody knows them is a neat idea, like a soft reboot in five issues. Cosmic Cube drama could get wild. The Brand New Day ongoing though... Kingpin's plans in a book he lost? That's straight out of bad spy movie. Dan Slott on it makes me worried it's gonna be another one of his giant events that goes nowhere. I'll read the first issues but I'm not hyped.

This news makes me happy. More Spider-Man comics is always good. I like that Long Way Home has Spidey dealing with Hulk and Punisher as sort-of allies and enemies. Cosmic Cube story has big stakes. And bringing back Brand New Day name for the movie tie-in feel, even if it's not connected, is smart marketing. Kingpin sending assassins after the Lexicon sounds like classic street-level Spidey action. Dan Slott knows how to write Peter Parker well. Dates line up perfect too – comics in May/June, movie in July. I'm ready.

Come on Marvel, stop with the confusing titles. Long Way Home limited series – okay, interesting setup with new-to-the-world heroes and a Cosmic Cube hunt. But then Spectacular Spider-Man: Brand New Day right when the movie drops with the same name? That's asking for people to get mixed up at the shop. The plot with Kingpin's lost directory is simple but could work if they keep it grounded. Still, feels like they're banking on movie buzz instead of good stories. Dan Slott doing it again is whatever. Probably drop it after a year.

Honestly this is peak comic book nonsense and I love it. Spider-Man: Long Way Home with Hulk and Punisher as fresh characters? That's a fun what-if setup. Five issues to fight over the Cosmic Cube – short and punchy, I respect that. Then the ongoing called exactly the movie title, Kingpin mad about his secret book getting stolen by Spidey. Assassins incoming. Dan Slott writing both just adds to the chaos. These are coming right before the Holland movie so sales gonna spike anyway. I'm grabbing both covers.

Not excited. Long Way Home sounds forced – new continuity just to use Hulk and Punisher without messing main universe? Lazy. Cosmic Cube in South America, big whoop. And Brand New Day ongoing is worse. We already had that era, movie takes the name, now comic reuses it too? Kingpin plot is basic villain stuff. Dan Slott wrote the original BND and now this unrelated one – feels like he's out of ideas. Marvel should focus on quality not title tricks. Pass.
