That wasn’t clickbait because it was sarcasm — you already knew which game would dominate The Game Awards nominations for 2025 not only before you loaded this page, but well before they were even announced. Just as everyone thought, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was nommed in every single category it could possibly qualify for, and then some. In “Best Performance” half the actors listed are from this game. It’s good to be French and indie. Clair Obscur has twelve nominations across ten categories, including Best Art Direction, Best Audio Design, Best Narrative, Best Score, and of course Game of the Year. Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yōtei have both tied for second, with seven nominations each. Some people were wondering if being “too hard” would kill the chances for Hollow Knight: Silksong. Not quite — it’s got five noms. Remember in the early months of 2025 when everyone was saying Blue Prince was a lock for these awards? This is why you never make that call too early. It only appears in “Debut Indie Game.” Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and The Alters were also snubbed pretty hard. Finally, GTA 6 is nominated for “Most Anticipated Game” and […]

Uma Musume is honestly such a fun game. It’s not just about racing—it's about the whole experience of training your Uma and seeing her grow. Each one has her own story and personality, and you really feel like you're part of her journey. The races get pretty intense too, especially when you’ve put a lot of work into training. There’s just something satisfying about pushing her to be better and then winning those races.

The soundtrack is awesome, too. It really gets you pumped up during races. Plus, the characters are so well-designed, each with their own little quirks that make them stand out. It’s a game that makes you care about the characters and their stories, and that’s why I keep coming back to it. Honestly, I wish more people outside of Japan knew how great Uma Musume is.

Okay, let’s be real here—Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the game of the year, but I’m still not fully convinced it should win everything. It’s an indie game, sure, but is it really going to sweep every major category? I think it deserves a few nods, but I’m personally rooting for Ghost of Yōtei. It’s been getting some buzz, but not nearly enough for what it’s done for the genre. Death Stranding 2’s nomination makes sense—it’s a solid continuation of a unique vision, and I can’t overlook that. But then again, this is The Game Awards. We all know what’s going to win. Clair Obscur might be great, but I’d love to see a little more variety.

I’m not convinced Clair Obscur deserves all this attention. Yes, it’s indie and impressive in some ways, but when you have titles like Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yōtei in the mix, I can’t help but feel there’s a bit of bias. Death Stranding 2, in particular, is a masterpiece, and it’s weird that it has fewer nominations than Clair Obscur when the latter isn’t doing anything truly groundbreaking. Sure, it’s well-designed, but this feels a little like the industry is too obsessed with indie games being “artsy.” I think Ghost of Yōtei deserved more nominations, too.

I’m really happy to see Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 getting some recognition this year. The first game was groundbreaking with its realistic take on medieval life, and I’m hoping the sequel improves on that formula. It’s one of those games that doesn’t get the attention it deserves compared to the big-budget titles, but the detail and history make it stand out. It’s also great to see Hollow Knight: Silksong getting a solid number of nominations, even though it’s not the frontrunner. I think that game is going to be a sleeper hit and could surprise people. I’m definitely rooting for Hades 2 and Ghost of Yōtei as well.

I feel like GTA 6 in the Most Anticipated category is just a safe bet. Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for the game, but I’ve been hearing about it for so long that I’m kind of numb to the idea now. It’s like the same old thing every year, and I can’t help but feel it’ll win that category again just because it’s GTA. It’s getting a little repetitive, honestly. What I’m more interested in is Marvel’s Wolverine and how it’ll fare next year. The fact that it didn’t show up this year makes me think it’s a strong contender for next year’s awards. I’d love to see a new superhero game get some recognition.

I’m really intrigued by the Best Adaptation category this year. The Last of Us season 2 and Until Dawn both seem like strong contenders. But I’m wondering if Devil May Cry has what it takes to grab the crown. I’ve always thought the DMC series would translate well to a show or movie, and I’m curious to see how they approach it. A Minecraft Movie also stands out as an odd but interesting choice. I didn’t expect it to get a nod, but I guess the game has such a massive following that an adaptation might actually work. This could be a category with a lot of surprises.

I’m so happy to see Silent Hill f getting some recognition, even if it’s just for performance. Konatsu Kato’s portrayal is absolutely chilling, and she really adds something special to the story. I’ve always felt Silent Hill was at its best when it’s deeply psychological and personal, and this game nails that vibe. It’s a shame it didn’t get more nominations, especially in areas like Best Narrative or Best Art Direction, because it truly deserves it. This game is a beautiful return to form for the series, and it’s sad to see it overshadowed by all the other bigger names in the running.

Wow, the nominations are huge this year, but I think Clair Obscur deserves every bit of it. It’s rare to see an indie game break through and take on the giants, and that makes this feel extra special. I was a bit worried that other strong titles like Hades 2 might get overshadowed, but it looks like they’ll still have their moment. The competition looks tough, but I’m excited to see how everything plays out. There’s no shortage of great games in 2025, and the Game Awards should be a big celebration of all the amazing titles that have come out this year.

I’m honestly surprised by how little Silent Hill f is being talked about in the run-up to the awards. It’s been a long time since we had a game from this series that really hits on all the right notes — creepy, immersive, and emotionally engaging. Konatsu Kato’s performance deserves way more credit than it’s getting. The fact that it’s only in the Best Performance category feels like a missed opportunity, because it’s such a well-rounded game. I think people are overlooking it, but I’m still holding out hope that Silent Hill f gets more love during the ceremony.
