This year’s New York Game Awards were held last night and…if you can’t tell from the splash image, Astro Bot has another feather in its cap. The breakout hit took home three awards, more than any other nominated game, and only failed to win one of its nominations (Best World, which went to Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree). Side note, I’m currently playing through Astro Bot myself and it really is good. Speaking of the Elden Ring DLC, it was the only other game to be awarded more than once, taking trophies for Beat DLC in addition to Best World. Other winners of the night included UFO 50 for Best Indie Game, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle’s Troy Baker winning for Beat Acting, Metaphor: ReFantazio getting the top pick for Best Writing, and Best Remake going to Silent Hill 2. You can check out the full list of New York Game Awards winners below. Congrats to all who were honored. Big Apple Award for Best Game of the Year Astro Bot Off Broadway Award for Best Indie Game UFO 50 Herman Melville Award for Best Writing in a Game Metaphor: ReFantazio Statue of Liberty Award for Best World […]

Absolutely thrilled for Astro Bot! Three awards, including Game of the Year? It absolutely deserves it. The creativity, the charm, the innovative use of the DualSense controller - Astro Bot is a masterpiece. I'm especially glad it won for Best Music too. That soundtrack is pure joy. While I can understand Elden Ring winning Best World (that world is incredible), Astro Bot is a total package that shouldn't be missed.

So happy to see UFO 50 snag the Best Indie Game award! Indie games are the lifeblood of the industry, and UFO 50 is a shining example of what indies can achieve. It's refreshing to see something new and innovative take home an award, especially against such big-name titles. This is sure to give a boost to smaller studios and hopefully encourage even more creative risks in the future.

Gotta admit, a little bummed Astro Bot didn't win Best World. Elden Ring's world is vast and impressive, no doubt about it, but Astro Bot's level design is just so darn creative. Still, three awards is nothing to scoff at, and Astro Bot is definitely a must-play for anyone with a PS5. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some more awards to collect in Astro Bot!

I am thrilled with the choice of winner in the indie game category. The creativity and effort put into these smaller games really stand out. It’s inspiring to see new developers getting recognition. I even spent some time exploring fun game reviews on https://pokiesman1.net/no-deposit-bonus-pokies/ and was impressed by the variety. The gameplay styles this year are so diverse that it keeps me excited for what’s coming next. Overall, it’s a great year for gaming and innovation.
