Crunchyroll’s next big shonen title is Gachiakuta — and they really want to make sure you know it’s coming. So they’ve prepared multiple promo videos, plus a big early premiere for the debut episode at Anime Expo. Gachiakuta is a new action series about Rudo, a young outcast falsely accused of murder. His sentence is exile into the wasteland known as The Pit. He may be down, but he’s far from out! He discovers an organization within the wasteland called The Cleaners, who can give life to trash and transform it into powerful weaponry. It’s just what he needs! Someday soon Ruto will be able to escape The Pit and get his revenge against those who sentenced him. He’ll just have to get past all the monstrous Trash Beasts first. Wouldn’t be a shonen without lots of training. The series is directed by Fumihiko Suganuma (no previous credits — this is his first major directing gig), with series composition by Hiroshi Seko (Attack on Titan, Chainsaw Man, JUJUTSU KAISEN), and music by Taku Iwasaki (Bungo Stray Dogs). The Anime Expo premiere, which encompasses the first two episodes, will occur on July 4 at 10 AM Pacific, as part of a […]

I think the idea of turning trash into weapons is a very creative concept. It makes Gachiakuta stand out from other action anime. I’ve seen a lot of shonen stories about revenge, but combining that with themes of waste and recycling is interesting. It might also have something to say about how society treats people it throws away, just like garbage. I’m also interested in the character of Rudo. If the story can make us understand his pain and anger, this could be a strong emotional journey. I’ll definitely watch the first few episodes and see where it goes.

I can’t wait! I read some of the manga and the artwork is so unique. It’s gritty but also colorful. The characters are all designed with so much style. I’m really happy Crunchyroll is pushing this one hard. I think it deserves the attention. Rudo is a cool main character and his powers are fun to watch. Plus, having Hiroshi Seko involved gives me hope that the writing will be strong

This looks weird in a good way. I haven’t heard of Gachiakuta before now, but the promo stuff makes it seem different from the usual. I’m into anime with strange worlds and strange powers, so I might check it out. I also like when new creators get a chance to direct something big. Suganuma might surprise us. Sometimes people with no experience come up with the freshest ideas.

A first-time director with no credits makes me nervous. This is a big series, and it seems risky to hand it to someone new. I hope there’s a strong team around him to support the vision. On the positive side, Hiroshi Seko is a great writer, and the music composer has done good work. So there’s hope. I just don’t want another anime that starts strong and falls apart after episode four.

I love anime that mixes art and action, and this sounds perfect for me. I saw the trailer and the graffiti-inspired animation is beautiful. It reminds me of street art in Tokyo. Also, the theme of giving value to trash is deep to me. It’s not just about weapons — maybe it’s also about giving people a second chance. Rudo seems like the kind of hero you want to root for. I’ll be watching it the day it comes out.

If the story is solid, I’ll watch it. I don’t care about big promo events. I care about character development and pacing. If the writing is tight and the world-building makes sense, I’ll stick with it. Otherwise, I’ll pass.

What caught my attention is the theme. Rudo is thrown away by society, just like trash, but he finds power in what others reject. That’s strong symbolism. Many people feel like outcasts, and this show could speak to them. I hope it’s more than just fights and powers. If it shows Rudo growing as a person while facing tough choices, it could become a favorite of mine. Anime can do great things when it balances action with emotion.

I’m here for the animation. That graffiti influence in the art style is rare in anime. It feels like Gachiakuta might push the visuals into new territory. I hope the animators had enough time and budget to pull it off. Crunchyroll putting effort into the promo makes me think they’re confident about the quality. I’ll watch it just to see how it looks in motion.

Trash monsters? I'm in. Seriously though, I like shows that are a little strange and messy. They usually have more energy. I don’t care if the director’s new. Everyone starts somewhere. If episode one hooks me, I’ll binge it for sure.
